President Abbas hails Turkey’s support to Palestinian people and their just question

President Mahmoud Abbas today hailed Turkey’s support to the Palestinian people and their just question.

Abbas made his remarks during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavusoglu at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

During their meeting, President Abbas and Çavusoglu reviewed the outcomes of the joint Palestinian-Turkish Committee’s work and the cooperation agreements signed during an earlier meeting with Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki.

He briefed the top Turkish diplomat on the latest developments on the Palestinian arena, with focus on incessant Israel’s attacks against the Palestinian people and holy sites in Jerusalem, daily killings and unabated colonial settlement construction on occupied land.

He also apprised him of home demolitions, forced expulsions of Palestinian families besides to Israel’s insistence on taking unilateral measures that are tantamount to apartheid and racial discrimination.

He affirmed Palestine’s keenness on fulfilling its obligations under the United Nations resolutions while pointing that the Palestinian side looks forward to the creation of a political horizon that would bring the Israeli occupation to an end and realizes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.

He commended Turkey for its support to the Palestinian people and their legitimate and just rights while stressing the importance of continuing the work of the Joint Palestinian-Turkish Committee to reinforce bilateral relations to the benefit of investment and experience sharing.

The top Turkish diplomat conveyed the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to President Abbas and affirmed his country’s firm position in support of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.
