Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday expressed congratulations to the Muslims on Eid Al-Fitr and lauded the Russian community for supporting dialogue among peoples of diverse creeds and nationalities.
Putin, in a message addressed by Ravil Gainutdin, the head of the religious administration for the Russian Muslims in the eid sermon, said the occasion depicted great spiritual values and reflected peoples’ tendency toward moralistic purity, tolerance, giving and compassion.
Putin has noted that the Muslims in Russia have respected the nation’s historic, cultural and religious traditions.
The Russian Muslims encourage national upbringing of the youth and contribute to defending Russia, Putin said.
