Settlers raze Palestinian lands in Jordan Valley, Hebron

Colonial Israeli settlers embarked today on bulldozing Palestinian-owned lands and building sheep barns in the northeast and in the south of the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

In Tubas, northeast of the occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers bulldozed private Palestinian lands in Khirbet Muafya village, located in the Jordan Valley region, and set up barns to shelter their sheep, said Aref Daraghmeh, a local Palestinian activist.

He expressed his fears that the recent actions by Israeli settlers could be only the beginning of a new Israeli settlement outpost in the area at the expense of Palestinian land.

Meantime, Israeli settlers proceeded to bulldoze a Palestinian-owned land near the town of as-Samu, to the south of Hebron in the southern West Bank.

Rateb Jabour, a local Palestinian official, said Israeli occupation forces assaulted local Palestinian residents who tried to stop the bulldozing by the Israeli settlers.
