Settlers vandalize solar cells in Jordan Valley

A group of Israeli settlers last night vandalized and shattered solar cells for Palestinian owners in the village of Al-Farisiya in the northern Jordan Valley region, northeast of the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Witnesses told WAFA that a group of Israeli settlers sneaked into the village and destroyed power-generating solar cells belonging to Mansour and Saleh Abu Amer, two local Palestinian residents.

Over the past months, the village has been a target of almost daily acts of vandalism and violence by Israeli settlers, who are often protected by the Israeli army and police.

Israeli settler violence against Palestinians is almost a routine reality in the occupied West Bank, and is rarely prosecuted by the Israeli occupation authorities.

Earlier last night, Israeli settler extremists attacked a school and set fire to a classroom in the village of Urif, to the south of Nablus.

More than 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
