Signing ceremony for project support of movement and trade-related activity to and from Jordan

Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, Yoichi Nakashima, and Head of the Quartet Office John Clarke signed a Supplementary Budget Project to be implemented in 2023-2024, today said the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine in a press release.

The Government of Japan to finance the supplementary budget project called “Support for Movement and Trade-Related Activity 2023-2024” to be implemented by the Quartet Office (OQ) from Jan 2023 to Jan 2024 to support the Ministry of National Economy in Palestine in the technical conceptualization for the direct transfer of goods with and via Jordan at Allenby and King Hussein Bridge.

The Office of the Quartet was established in 2007, and its mandate is to increase Palestinian economic and institutional development and empowerment, as a support towards achieving a two-state solution. The OQ has been Japan’s very important partner for the materialization of the two-state solution.

The final output is expected to be a technical concept note for a Direct Transfer process at Allenby and King Hussein Bridge, and will be an important ingredient for enriching our important initiative “Corridor for Peace and Prosperity” and the flagship project “Jericho Agro-Industrial Park (JAIP)” and, more importantly, for smoother movement at Allenby and King Hussein Bridge, said the press release.
