UNRWA shuts down its facilities in Gaza except for health services

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced today the closure of all its facilities in the Gaza Strip to the public until further notice, with the exception of the 22 health centers.

The Agency said in a statement, “Starting from August 7 and until further notice, all UNRWA facilities will be closed to the public except for the 22 health centers, which will open their doors at the usual working hours, but will be limited to providing basic services such as the distribution of medicines for patients with chronic diseases, follow-up of high-risk pregnancies and postpartum cases, immunizations for children and acute dental cases.”

Th statement added, “The beneficiaries are advised to use the telemedicine service, which they can access through the toll-free number: 1800444666.”

The latest measure by the UNRWA comes in the aftermath of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has claimed the lives of 15 Palestinians, predominantly civilians, and the injury of at least 140 others.
