The United States State Department spokesman Ned Price strongly condemned the killing of Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the West Bank. “Her death is an affront to media freedom everywhere,” he said in a tweet.
“We are heartbroken by and strongly condemn the killing of American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the West Bank,” said the US State Department spokesman.
He stressed the need to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation in order to hold those responsible accountable. “Those responsible must be held accountable.”
