Weather: Cold front affects Palestine bringing a drop in temperature, rain

A low pressure cold front is expected to affect Palestine today causing temperature to plummet and paving the way to partly cloudy to cloudy skies and relatively cold to cold conditions. Torrential rain showers are expected along with occasional thunderstorms during the night, especially in the north and the center, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Winds are southwesterly to westerly, moderate to active with strong gusts and dusty, while sea waves are high to very high.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and in Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 13°C and a low of 8°C, and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 12°C and a low of 7°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 22°C and a low of 14°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 19°C and a low of 13°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

The low-pressure front continues to affect the country tomorrow, Thursday. Sporadic rain showers are expected in the north and center of the country with the chance of rainfall waning towards the night.

Partially cloudy skies and relatively cold conditions are expected to continue on Friday with a rise in temperature.

A significant rise in temperature is expected on Saturday to become above the season’s average, said the PMD, which warned people against slippery roads, low horizontal visibility and gusty winds, which could reach 70 km/h, and floods in the low areas and valleys.
