Weather forecast: Low pressure, cold front affect region

RAMALLAH– A low pressure with a cold front are affecting the region today, paving the way to cloudy and cold conditions and causing temperature to plummet to 5°C below the seasonal average, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Occasional rain showers, which could be torrential, and occasional thunderstorms are expected. An additional drop in temperature is expected in the evening and night. Moderate to active southwesterly to westerly wind prevails, with occasional gusts. Sea waves are high.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 14°C and a low of 11°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 13°C and a low of 10°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 23°C and a low of 16°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 19°C and a low of 16°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

The cloudy and cold conditions continue to prevail on Saturday, with a slight rise in temperature. Occasional rain showers continue to fall with isolated thunderstorms, with the chance of rainfall gradually tapering off towards the night.

Sunday’s temperature is set to further rise and approach 2°C below the seasonal average, paving the way to partly cloudy to cloudy and dusty conditions. Easterly winds will gradually pick up during the day.

A further rise in temperature is expected on Monday, paving the way to partly cloudy to cloudy, dusty and warm conditions. Easterly wind will prevail.

PMD warns people against flash floods in flood-prone areas, slippery roads and low horizontal visibility.
