PM Shtayyeh: Vote on resuming European aid to Palestine to end tomorrow

Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh said that the European Union will end the vote, which started two days ago, on resuming financial aid to Palestine people tomorrow.

During an interview with official Palestine TV, Shtayyeh noted that 23 European foreign ministers sent a message to the European Union, in which they confirmed that aid to Palestine should be resumed without conditions.

Accordingly, he hoped that “the vote will come with satisfactory results regarding the aid that we have not received since 2021.”

He noted that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who will visit Palestine on June 14, will carry a message about the end of the issue of halting European aid, explaining that European support is divided between projects and cash to the treasury of the Ministry of Finance.

“We, under the direction of the President, will not accept any conditional financial aid, and we will not make any concessions about the educational curriculum, which is part of the dignity of the Palestinian,” the prime minister said regarding conditions placed in the past on European financial support for Palestine.

He stressed that the government will not allow a change in the Palestinian narrative or rights, especially those related to refugees and the right of return and that Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine.
