The three Palestinian Arabic dailies – al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Ayyam, and al-Quds – published today highlighted news of the occupation forces’ attack on the funeral procession of Odeh Muhammad Odeh Sadaqa, 17, in the village of al-Midya, west of Ramallah, and the dozens of injuries as a result of the suppression of the anti-settlements, anti-occupation protests in the West Bank.

The Israeli occupation forces raided early this morning several Palestinian homes in the West Bank and detained members of the household, according to various sources. They also detained a number of Gaza Strip residents near the border fence.

Soldiers raided this morning Arroub refugee camp in the south of the West Bank and detained a resident after breaking into and searching his home, according to Palestinian security sources.

Similarly, soldiers raided Wad Shaheen in the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem, broke into the home of a 40-year-old local resident and detained him, said the security sources.

In the north of the West Bank, local sources said soldiers detained a 37-year-old man after raiding and ransacking his family home in the town of Jaba, south of the city of Jenin.

Soldiers last night detained two residents of Jenin when they arrived at a military checkpoint south of the city of Nablus, according to local sources.

Meanwhile, WAFA correspondent said Israeli occupation forces detained this morning two residents of the Gaza Strip near the border fence east of the central governorate.

The forces yesterday morning also detained three Gaza residents east of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Two Palestinian fishermen were today wounded by rubber-coated metal rounds as Israeli navy boats attacked them while sailing off the northern coast of the Gaza Strip, forcing them to return to the shore, reported WAFA correspondent.

He said the two fishermen were taken to hospital after their return to shore and reported in stable condition.

The Israeli gunfire also hit the engine of the fishermen’s boat, damaging it.

Earlier today, the Israeli navy detained six Palestinian fishermen while at sea in the north of the Gaza Strip and later reports said four of the fishermen have been released and returned to Gaza.

Fishermen are not allowed to go deeper than six nautical miles into the sea in the south of the Gaza Strip and only three nautical miles in the north. But even then, fishermen are still attacked even if they stay within their marked zones.

The Gaza Strip has been under tight Israeli sea, land and air siege since 2005.

The Israeli navy detained this morning six Palestinian fishermen while at sea in the north of the Gaza Strip, reported WAFA correspondent.

He said the navy first detained four fishermen in al-Waha region and then two more west of Gaza port after seizing and impounding their fishing boats.

Fishing is the main source of income and living for thousands of Gazans.

The impoverished Gaza Strip has been under constant Israeli military siege and blockade since 2005 and the fishing area is heavily restricted to only three nautical miles.

The Ramallah-based social media watch group, Sada Social Center, said today that it has documented 132 violations against Palestinian digital content on social media platforms during the month of May.

It said Palestinian accounts received a number of content policy violation reports, which caused restrictions on posting, post reach and bans on posting news related to Palestine.

In a surprise move and a further restriction to reach the Palestinian user, said Sada Social Center in a statement, Meta classified the Palestinian freedom fighter incarcerated in Israel, Zakaria al-Zubaidi, as a dangerous individual on Facebook platform, and issued warnings to those who search for his name on the platform, in addition to classifying a number of Palestinian personalities and groups as “dangerous individuals or organizations.”

On the Facebook platform, Meta deleted the accounts of those accused of carrying out the attack in the Israeli town of Elad, in addition to deleting videos, posts, and facts proving Israel’s killing of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, and attacking her funeral.

Meta was explicitly consistent with the “Facebook Law” approved by the Israeli Knesset in the first and second readings, which obligates media sites and social networks to delete content claiming to combat “incitement” and “terrorism”, and not to prejudice “state security, public security and individual security”.

This law aims to impose more restrictions on voices supporting the Palestinian cause and rejecting Israel’s occupation via social media platforms, which represents a serious threat to Palestinian digital rights, and works to hide the political content critical of the Israeli occupation authorities through the digital space, in addition to contributing in covering up their crimes and obstructing their accountability, said the Palestinian social media watch group.

Palestinian news pages are still suffering from restrictions, which obstruct their work and spread, especially when many terms and names related to the political situation are used, it added. Most of these terms are classified under the ban algorithm as the center monitored the banning of many news posts due to the use of the name of Yahya al-Sinwar, leader of Hamas movement in Gaza.

“This indicates a lack of consideration for the specificity of the Palestinian cause and considering the mere transmission of the news an incitement to violence, which in turn hinders the dissemination of information and news,” said Sada Social.

The Center monitored violations against more than 64 accounts of journalists, news networks and activists, which represents more than 48% of the total violations of digital content during May.

The violations are distributed as follows: Facebook: 70 violations, Twitter: 5 violations, Instagram: 8 violations, YouTube: 13, WhatsApp: 42 violations belonging to news networks and journalists, Tik Tok: 5, and ClubHouse: 1 violation.

The Center said it will continue efforts to monitor violations against the Palestinian content and work to follow up on them with Facebook administration. It also appealed to civil society institutions to defend Palestinian digital rights that are violated daily and without any right.

It said it is still working to restore many accounts that are subject to harassment and ban, stressing the importance of documenting these violations based on the importance of being on digital platforms and conveying the Palestinian narrative like the rest of those around the world and respect for the freedom of expression and publication as a universal right guaranteed by all international conventions.

In a telephone call today, French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed to President Mahmoud Abbas France’s unyielding support for peace and its continued efforts with the concerned sides and all international parties to stop the current escalation and move forward the initiatives that lead to the desired political horizon.

The two presidents discussed during this telephone call the latest political developments, the current dangerous situation in the Palestinian territories, and ways to strengthen relations between France and Palestine as well as with the European Union in light of France’s presidency of the EU council.

President Abbas stressed that the current situation cannot be tolerated nor ignored in the absence of a political horizon and international protection for the Palestinian people and in light of the Israeli occupation’s disavowal of its obligations in accordance with signed agreements and resolutions of international legitimacy.

President Abbas further briefed his French counterpart on the ongoing Israeli escalations against the Palestinian people and its continued unilateral acts, particularly in Jerusalem, including the expulsion of Palestinians from Jerusalem’s neighborhoods and the demolition of their homes, the killing of the defenseless Palestinian people including children, the crimes of settlement construction, and settler terrorism.

They also discussed the ongoing Israeli attacks on Christian and Islamic holy sites, especially the daily attacks against the al-Aqsa mosque by extremist settlers, under the protection of Israeli forces.

President Abbas stressed that the Palestinian leadership is in the process of taking action to confront these Israeli escalations in light of the international community’s inability to compel Israel to comply with the resolutions of international legitimacy and its failure to stop Israel’s criminal and occupying practices, ethnic cleansing measures, and racial discrimination, as well as in light of the US silence on these provocations and practices that are in flagrant violation of international law.

President Abbas thanked Macron for France’s firm stances in support of peace based on the two-state solution and international law, highly appreciating the assistance it provides to support institution-building and economic advancement in Palestine. President Abbas stressed the importance of continued political and economic support by the EU and member states.

He further emphasized the importance of France’s role and the effective initiatives it could provide in order to create a political horizon, noting that France enjoys the confidence of the Palestinian side.

President Abbas said the Palestinian leadership will continue to work to mobilize international support to address these challenges and put a stop to Israel’s crimes, which he stressed have reached an unacceptable level.

He stressed the need for the international community to take deterrent measures against Israeli practices and to stop the double standards; “because the situation on the ground is no longer acceptable.”

Meanwhile, President Macron extended an invitation to President Mahmoud Abbas to visit France in the forthcoming period in order to discuss ways to achieve peace and strengthen bilateral relations.

Dozens of peace activists today suffocated after inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli occupation forces during a march opposed to Israeli government plans to dislodge hundreds of Palestinian residents of Masafer Yatta in the south of the West Bank and to demolish their communities, according to a local activist.

Fouad al-Imour, an activist in the South Hebron Hills, said dozens of activists and supporters came to al-Rakiz village in Masafer Yatta to express opposition to the Israeli government’s plans when soldiers attacked them with tear gas and beating in order to disperse them causing injuries and suffocation.

Every week since the Israeli High Court on May 4 gave the army the green light to demolish 12 communities in Masafer Yatta and to displace over 1000 of their residents as part of a plan to seize their lands and homes under the pretext of turning the area into a firing zone for military training, activists and supporters have been joining residents of Masafer Yatta in protesting plans to displace them and take over their lands.

Hundreds of Palestinians marched today in downtown Ramallah, in the center of the West Bank, demanding the Israeli occupation authorities to hand over the withheld bodies of dozens of Palestinians killed by IOF during the past few years.

The march was initiated and called for by the families of Palestinian martyrs whose bodies are withheld by the occupation authorities, and was attended by hundreds of Palestinians who chanted slogans and waved banners demanding the immediate handover of the martyrs whose bodies are either buried in Israeli number cemeteries or kept in mortuaries.

Layla Ghannam, the Governor of Ramallah, addressed the protesters saying that the international community has to hold Israel to account for withholding the bodies of killed Palestinians, which she described as a means of collective punishment against the martyrs’ families.

Israeli occupation authorities have escalated the practice of withholding the bodies of Palestinians killed by IOF, claiming that funerals of Palestinians had provided grounds for “incitement” against Israel.

International law considers the practice a violation of human rights. The Geneva Conventions say that the parties of an armed conflict must bury the deceased in an honorable way, and “if possible according to the rites of the religion to which they belonged and that their graves are respected, properly maintained, and marked in such a way that they can always be recognized”.

According to rights groups, the bodies of at least 105 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces since 2015 are currently withheld by the Israeli occupation authorities.

In 2017, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled that the state has no legal basis to withhold bodies, but reversed course in 2019 and upheld the government’s policy to withhold bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation troops.

According to Adalah Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights, an NGO, Israel is the only country in the world that has a policy of confiscation of human remains, where it relies on regulations dating back to 1945 (during the British Mandate) as grounds for its policy.

Hussein Al-Sheikh, the Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), dismissed today false reports regarding the health condition of President Mahmoud Abbas.

“Reports circulated by the yellow press regarding the health condition of Mr. President Mahmoud Abbas are false,” said Al-Sheikh in a tweet.

Al-Sheikh described these reports “are aimed at destabilizing the internal Palestinian situation,” adding that the President was “in good condition and doing his work as usual.”

قال “نادي الأسير” الفلسطيني (منظمة مجتمع مدني في رام الله)، اليوم السبت، إن سلطة سجون الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، تعزل الأسير عبدالله البرغوثي (50 عاماً) في زنازين سجن “ريمون”، منذ 31 أيار/مايو الماضي.

وأوضح “نادي الأسير” في بيان تلقته “قدس برس”، أن “الأسير البرغوثي يعتبر من أبرز الأسرى الذين واجهوا سياسة العزل الانفرادي على مدار سنوات طويلة وبشكل متواصل”.

وقال البيان إن “هذه الخطوة ما هي إلا عملية انتقامية تنفذها إدارة سجون الاحتلال بحق الأسير البرغوثي”.

يذكر أن الأسير عبد الله البرغوثي محكوم بالسجن (67) مؤبداً، إضافة إلى 5200 عام، وهو صاحب أطول حُكم في التاريخ المرصود للإنسانية.

وصعّدت سلطة سجون الاحتلال من سياسة العزل الانفرادي، منذ شهر أيلول/سبتمبر الماضي بعد عملية نفق الحرية؛ وبلغ عدد الأسرى المعزولين انفراديا داخل السجون الإسرائيلية 29، حتى نهاية شهر أيار/مايو الماضي.

عدّ مراقبون، نتائج الانتخابات المحلية والطلابية والنقابية (آخرها نقابة الأطباء)، “مؤشرا واضحا على حجم التراجع وفقدان ثقة الشارع الفلسطيني بحركة فتح وتيار السلطة الفلسطينية”.

وجرت أمس الجمعة، انتخابات نقابة الأطباء في 8 مدن بالضفة الغربية المحتلة، ونتج عنها فوز الكتل التي تمثل “تيار المقاومة” بـ6 مدن (طولكرم وجنين ونابلس وقلقيلية والقدس والخليل)، مقابل قائمتين لـ”فتح” في مدينتي رام الله وبيت لحم.

كما أعيد انتخاب الدكتور شوقي صبحة (مستقل)، نقيبًا للأطباء الفلسطينيين، للدورة الثانية على التوالي.

خسارات متكررة

ويقول الباحث الفلسطيني أشرف بدر، إن “نتائج انتخابات نقابة الأطباء، مرتبطة بنتائج انتخابات أخرى جرت في وقت سابق هذا العام، مثل نقابة المحامين، ونقابة المهندسين، والجامعات، (بيرزيت وبيت لحم)، والانتخابات البلدية والمحلية، والتي سجّل تيار السلطة وفتح، خسارة واضحة وتراجعًا كبيرًا في جميعها”.

ويرى “بدر” في حديثه لـ”قدس برس” أن “هذه النتائج هي أداة معاقبة من الجماهير، للحزب الحاكم في السلطة، بسبب مواقفه السياسية، وأداء الحكومة التي يترأسها عضو لجنة مركزية وممثل عن الحزب (محمد اشتية)، والتي تؤكد حجم التماهي بين فتح والسلطة”، وفق قوله.

الابتعاد عن مواجهة الحقيقة

ويضيف أن “فتح والسلطة تفسر أسباب خسارتها بطرق غير واقعية وغير منطقية، لا علاقة لها بالأسباب الحقيقية، وتعزيها لأمور تنظيمية وإعلامية”، وفق الباحث الفلسطيني.

ويستدرك: “لكن فتح والسلطة تبتعدان عن مواجهة المشكلة الحقيقية، وهي السلوك السياسي والإداري، والتوجهات التي تعاكس توجه الشارع الفلسطيني، بل تكون عكسه تمامًا في بعض الأحيان”.

ويستبعد بدر “أن تشهد السياسات الحالية من السلطة أو فتح أي تغيير أو تحركات لوقف ما يحصل”، مرجعًا ذلك إلى “عدم وجود جهات محاسبة ومراقبة ومتابعة داخلية”.

وأضاف: “السبب في ذلك أيضا، بأن كل القرارات تتخذ من شخص أو فئة في السلطة وفتح، ويُفصل كل من يقف في وجهها أو يعارضها، كما حصل مع عدد كبير من الشخصيات التي شاركت في الانتخابات المحلية، مثل تيسير أبو سنينة (رئيس بلدية الخليل المنتخب مؤخرا)، الذي يعتبر أحد القيادات التاريخية في الحركة”.

بدورها، ترى الكاتبة السياسية الفلسطينية، آلاء هاشم، أن “هذه النتيجة وسابقاتها، ما هي إلا مؤشر كبير على تراجع حركة فتح في الضفة المحتلة”.

وتقول لـ”قدس برس”، إن: “الناخبين فقدوا الثقة بخيار فتح ونهجها المتمثل بالإقصاء، والاعتقال التعسفي، ومحاربة حريات الرأي والتعبير، وقمع كل من يُعارض سياستها والزج بهم في سجونها”.

المعطيات لا تبشر “فتح” بخير

وتضيف آلاء هاشم أن “الصهاينة وقطعان المستوطنين ينعمون بالأمن والأمان والاستقرار، الذي تحاول السلطة الفلسطينية – عبر ما يسمى بالتنسيق الأمني – تأمينهم والمحافظة على حياتهم من أي مقاومة فلسطينية، ما أفقد الشارع الفلسطيني ثقته بهذه السلطة”، وفق تعبيرها.

وترى الكاتبة السياسية أن التوقعات والمعطيات على أرض الواقع الفلسطيني “لا تُبشر السلطة وفتح بخير”، مشيرةً إلى أن “مسلسل الخسائر سيستمر دون تحرك يُحدث تغيرًا حقيقيًا في السياسات والتوجهات الداخلية، أمام الإقصاء الذي يعاني منه البعيد عن الحركة والقريب داخلها”.

وتتوقع “هاشم” أن “تحاول فتح والسلطة الابتعاد خلال الفترة القادمة عن المشاركة في أي انتخابات ممكن أن تحدث لها خسارة جديدة، كما حصل سابقًا، والتوجه للمشاركة في النقابات أو المجالس التي تتوقع أن تحصد فيها نجاحًا”.

وتتابع: “رغم أن النجاح الوحيد الذي حققته فتح سابقًا كان في نقابة المحامين، إلا أن الأرقام تشير إلى تراجع كبير للحركة، وليس العكس”.

خسارة ضمن سلسلة خسارات

يذكر أن انتخابات نقابة المهندسين، والتي جرت آب/ أغسطس الماضي، شهدت فوز “قائمة العزم” (تحالف حماس والشعبية) بغالبية الأصوات، مقابل خسارة “قائمة المهندس الفلسطيني”، المحسوبة على حركة “فتح”.

أما “كتلة القدس والعودة” التابعة لحركة “فتح” فقد منيت بخسارة في اتحاد مجلس طلبة جامعة بيت لحم، أواخر آذار/ مارس الماضي، بعدما تمكنت “الجبهة الشعبية” من حسم الفوز لصالح كتلتها الطلابية “صوت الطلبة”، بحصولها على 17 مقعدًا مقابل 14 لـ”فتح”.

وكانت “الكتلة الإسلامية” قد حققت فوزًا، منتصف الشهر الماضي، في انتخابات جامعة بيرزيت (شمالي القدس)، حيث حصدت 28 مقعدًا، مقابل 18 مقعدًا حصلت عليها كتلة “فتح”، فيما حصل والقطب الطلابي الديمقراطي على 5 مقاعد.

من جهة أخرى، خسرت حركة “فتح” 4 مقاعد في انتخابات نقابة المحامين، التي جرت منتصف الشهر الماضي، لتكون بذلك أول مرة في تاريخ النقابة، تشهد فيها “فتح” تراجعًا في عدد المقاعد التي تحصدها.

فيما شهدت الانتخابات المحلية والبلدية الفلسطينية في الضفة الغربية، أواخر آذار/ مارس الماضي، تراجعًا واضحًا لقوائم “فتح”، كان أهمها تراجع الحركة في بلديات نابلس وخسارتها في كل من طولكرم والخليل والبيرة، لصالح قوائم مدعومة من “حماس” والمستقلين.

قال مركز فلسطين لدراسات الأسرى، اليوم السبت، إن سلطات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، استمرت خلال شهر أيار/ مايو الماضي، في تصعيد حملات التنكيل والاعتقال بحق الفلسطينيين.

وأفاد المركز (مؤسسة مجتمع مدني مقرها غزة)، في تقرير شهري تلقته “قدس برس”، أنه “رصد (500) حالة اعتقال بينها 47 طفلاً، و15 سيدة، إضافة إلى ارتقاء شهيد للحركة الأسيرة”.

وأوضح أن “الاحتلال واصل استهدف الفلسطينيين وخاصة في مدينة القدس، بهدف ردعهم عن التصدي لاقتحامات المسجد الأقصى”، وفق “المركز”

وأضاف “نفذت عشرات الاعتقالات خلال تشييع الصحفية الشهيدة شيرين أبوعاقلة، والشهيد وليد الشريف في القدس، حيث وصلت إلى (320) حالة”.

وأشار مدير المركز، رياض الأشقر، إلى أن “قوات الاحتلال اعتقلت من قطاع غزة 14 فلسطينيا بينهم 10 صيادين، منهم 8 في عملية واحدة، وأربعة شبان آخرين، خلال اجتيازهم السياج الحدودي جنوبي وشمالي القطاع”.

وبيّن الأشقر لـ”قدس برس”، أن “الاحتلال واصل خلال الشهر الماضي استهداف الأطفال بالاعتقال والحبس المنزلي وفرض الغرامات المالية، ورصد المركز 47 حالة اعتقال لقاصرين أصغرهم الطفل نور الحج محمد (10 سنوات) من قرية المغير، شرق رام الله، وسط الضفة”.

وتابع “اعتقلت القوات الإسرائيلية 15 سيدة، غالبيتهن من القدس”، وكشف أن “قائمة شهداء الحركة الأسيرة، ارتفعت خلال الشهر الماضي الى 228 أسيرا شهيداً، إثر ارتقاء الشهيد داود الزبيدي (43 عاماً) من مخيم جنين، شمال الضفة، وهو شقيق الأسير زكريا الزبيدي”.

وأشار الأشقر إلى أن “الأسيرين خليل عواودة (40 عاما)، ورائد ريان (27 عاما)، يواصلان إضرابهما المفتوح عن الطعام رفضا لاعتقالهما الإداري”.

وبلغ عدد الأسرى الفلسطينيين في سجون الاحتلال حتى نهاية أيار/مايو، نحو أربعة آلاف و600 أسير، من بينهم 31 امرأة، و172 طفلاً، و682 معتقلاً إداريًا، و500 أسير مريض، و551 أسيرًا يقضون أحكامًا بالسجن المؤبد، إضافة، إلى 214 أسيراً مضى على اعتقالهم 20 عامًا أو أكثر، وفقًا لهيئة شؤون الأسرى.
