Arab League condemns burning of Quran in Stockholm

The Arab League condemned Friday the Swedish authorities allowing an extremist to burn a copy of the Quran in Stockholm. The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that the burning of the Quran is “a huge and unacceptable provocation to the feelings of Muslims everywhere around the world.” Jamal Rushdi, spokesman for the Secretary-General, said that Aboul Gheit had warned weeks ago of the consequences of allowing the Swedish authorities to take such provocative actions, which only contribute to spreading extremist rhetoric.
