Arab League: Collapse of health system in Gaza portends major disaster


CAIRO, The League of Arab States said on Sunday that the collapse of the health system in the Gaza Strip portends a major disaster, the spread of diseases and epidemics, and a major famine that threatens the lives of thousands.

This came in a statement by the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, on World Health Day.

The statement condemned the Israeli occupation forces for violating human rights, international humanitarian law, and the Fourth Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilians, and continuing to target and kill women, children, and the elderly, as well as the systematic bombing of hospitals and all health facilities.

It also denounced the Israeli occupation’s continued serious violation of preventing access to humanitarian aid, which increases the risk of health and humanitarian conditions, noting that this matter will have devastating effects on the health of mothers, children and the elderly.

Kuwaiti surgeon earns honorary fellowship from America


WASHINGTON, The Kuwaiti surgeon at the College of Medicine — Kuwait University — Dr. Moussa Khorshid has been granted the honorary fellowship from the American Surgical Association (ASS).

Dr. Khorshid is the first doctor in the Gulf and the Middle East to be honored with this fellowship.

In a statement to KUNA, he dedicated the certificate to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the people of Kuwait.

Dr. Khorshid, a specialist in endoscopic surgery, said that this achievement adds to Kuwait’s record of earning many high-esteem awards and contributes to placing it on the international map in the realm of endoscopy, and treatment of obesity and tumors.

The AAS, founded in 1841, groups elite American surgeons. This certificate had been granted to 99 doctors of various specialties throughout the world.

Dr. Khorshid had been given another certificate in 2021 from the American ACS (the American College of Surgeons). He was the first to earn it in the Gulf and the second at the M
iddle East level.

Meteorology expects cool to relatively cold weather


The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expected cold to relatively cold weather in a number of provinces, and moderate to active winds around the coasts during the next 24 hours.

The center stated in its weather bulletin, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that it expects cold weather in Sa’ada, Amran, Sana’a, Dhamar, Al-Bayda and Al-Dhale’ provinces during the night and early morning.

It explained that the lowest temperatures recorded at some weather monitoring stations this morning were 4 in Dhamar, 5.8 in Sana’a, 6.6 in Amran, 8.2 in Sayun, and 9.8 in Al-Sadda.

The center alerted citizens, especially the elderly, children and patients in mountainous areas, inland plateaus and deserts, to take the necessary precautions against cold weather in order to preserve their health.

Israel killed 8 Palestinians; injured 14 others in Jenin so far-Ministry

Death toll in Jenin rose to 8 Palestinian victims and 14 others injured by ongoing Israeli occupation aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp in the northern West Bank on Thursday, Palestinian Ministry of Health announced in a statement. Some casualties are serious cases in the Israeli attack on the Jenin camp, the statement said.

Czech Republic donates JD171K in medical equipment to Al-Bashir Hospital

Jordan and the Czech Republic signed a financial donation agreement on Thursday, under which the Czech government will finance the procurement of medical equipment worth JD171,000 to Al-Bashir Hospital. The contract was signed by Minister of Health Firas Hawari and Czech Ambassador Alexander Sporys. Hawari expressed his gratitude to the Czech government for the support, highlighting the importance of the donation to Al-Bashir Hospital and the patients who receive medical care there. Sporys mentioned that the donation is part of a larger reconstruction program in the Middle East region, which will run from 2022 to 2024. He reiterated the Czech government’s commitment to support the health sector and improve the quality of healthcare services. Gaza death toll surges to 9,770

RAMALLAH, The death toll of Palestinian martyrs due to the one-month Israeli occupation aggression on the Gaza Strip has jumped to 9,770, including 4,008 children, 2,550 women and 596 old people, according to health authorities.

A total of 24,808 Palestinians have also been injured in the airstrikes of the Israeli occupation forces since October 7, they said in a press release.

In addition, the Israeli occupation forces have targeted 110 medical and health institutions, according to the release.

Israeli occupation kills Palestinian in West Bank, death toll up to 134

RAMALLAH, – Palestinian Health Ministry said that a Palestinian man was killed in clashes with Israeli occupation forces, raising the number of deaths in the West Bank on Thursday to four.

This raises the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli aggression force in the West Bank to 134, since October 7.

Meanwhile, Gaza health authorities announced that the death toll from the Israeli attacks reached 9,061, among them 3,760 children and 2,326 women, as well as 32,000 injured.

They added that the Israeli occupation force executed 15 massacres in the past 24 hours, killing 256 Palestinians.

They called for providing a safe passage to urgently deliver medical aid to the strip, warning of a nearing health catastrophe as power is about to run out at Al-Shifa Hospital.

In the same context, Gaza officials said that they had retrieved the bodies of 27 Palestinians who were buried under rubble, after Israeli forces attacked a school in Jabalia camp.

Dozens Martyred, Injured in New Israeli Airstrike on Jabalia camp

Gaza, Dozens of Palestinians were martyred and others were injured as a result of a violent Israeli bombardment that targeted a residential square in the Al Faluga area in the Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza Strip, in what appears to be a new massacre committed by the Israeli occupation, less than 24 hours after the massacre it committed on Tuesday, in the same camp which left hundreds of martyrs and wounded.

Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA) said that the initial toll of targeting the residential square is estimated at dozens of martyrs. Meanwhile, medical sources reported that dozens of victims, most of them are children, arrived at the Indonesian hospital after the bombing.

On the other hand, in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli occupation carried out more incursions, especially in the city of Jenin and its camp, where armed clashes broke out, and three Palestinians were martyred in a bombing carried out by a drone on the camp.

The barbaric Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip continues for the 26th consecutive day, leaving more martyrs and wounded.

As of Tuesday, the total number of martyrs and wounded reached more than 30,000, most of them are women and children.

Mosul, Nineveh Governorate Health Directorate announced that two new cases of hemorrhagic fever were recorded in the city of Mosul.

Dr. Zaki Al-Hamdani said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “Laboratory tests confirmed the infection of two new cases of hemorrhagic fever out of four suspected cases whose laboratory tests were sent to public laboratories and confirmed their infection,” pointing out that “the two infected people work as livestock herders inside Mosul and are in a critical situation under intensive health care”
