Aspire Zone Foundation Concludes Ramadan Sports Festival


Doha: Aspire Zone Foundation concluded its Ramadan Sports Festival, with the participation of over 650 male and female athletes. They competed across five categories: Mens competitions, Ladies competitions, Youth competitions (Males and Females) and Special Needs Competitions.

As part of the cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Aspire Ramadan Festival witnessed the continuation of Embassies Football Tournament Six-a-side on a natural grass pitch with the participation of 12 teams.

The team of the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan succeeded in winning the title by defeating the team of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran with a score of 5-0.

The Table Tennis (Special Needs) Tournament, in collaboration with the Qatar Paralympic Committee, the Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Deaf, the Qatar social and Cultural Center for the Blind, witnessed intense competition among all players during the matches, held at the Woman’s Sports Hall with the participation of 42 playe
rs across 5 categories for differently abled individuals (standing, sitting, visual, and cognitive). This falls within Aspire Zone Foundation’s effort to provide an opportunity for all members of the community to enjoy the atmosphere of sports during Ramadan, regardless of their skills and physical abilities.

At the conclusion of the competitions, player Ibrahim Al Hammadi claimed the first place in the cognitive disability category, with Mohammed Moussa taking second place, and Mohammed al Mahmoud securing third place.

In the visually impaired category competitions, player Ikrami Ahmed claimed the first place, with player Ahmed Al Kubaisi securing second place, and player Abdulrahman Sami coming in third.

In the competitions of the hearing impairment category, player Ebrahim Massad Toufiq clinched the first place, with the player Rupa Mangalath securing second place, and player Shivas Kondabolu taking third place.

In the physical impaired (standing) category, player Khalifa Al Nuaimi clinched the first p
lace, with player Ali Rashid securing second place, and player Fawzi Jouahi coming in third.

In the seated disability category, player Ahmed Issa claimed the first place, with the player Mohammed Al Kubaisi Securing second place.

The 3X3 basketball tournament for men and women witnessed strong participation from all teams, in collaboration with Qatar Basketball Federation. It took place at the Woman’s Sports Hall from March 18 to 20.

In the men’s competition, team Jags clinched the first place, with Qatar Foundation coming in second, and Doha Suns securing third place. On the individua level, Sergjan Toleik won the best Dunk award, while Andrius Banys claimed the Best Three-Point Shooter award.

The Ladies tournament witnessed the participation of 8 Teams of adults and 7 Youth Teams. The results of Ladies competitions were as follows: Katara Team in the first place, Al Gharafa Team in second place and SportLab securing third place. On the individual level, Josette Anaswem won the best Three-Point Shooter a
ward.

As for Youth results, SportsLab team claimed first place this time, Al Gharafa in second place and QFteam in third place.

This year, the Aspire Ramadan Festival hosted the five-a-side hockey competitions with the participation of 150 male and female players of various ages. The competitions were divided into 3 categories: men, youth, and women, with matches held at the public courts of the foundation.

In the men’s category, Team Msaied emerged as champions after defeating Team Lusail 2-1 in the final match.

In the youth category, Team Al Sadd emerged victorious over Team Al Wakrah in the final match with a score of 1-0.

Mohsen Salman Al Sharshani, A player from the Qatar youth national team, claimed the top scorer title in both the men’s and youth competitions combined.

In the woman’s and girls category, Team United emerged as the sole victor over Doha Team in the final match with a score of 4-0.

The table tennis tournament for men and women took place at the tennis court in the woman’s sports ha
ll from March 16th to 22nd, featuring intense competition with the participation of 11 players from various age groups of both genders.

In the men’s competition, David Raducan cleaned the 1st place over Elias Ljume, Alexey Smirnov Secured the 1st place over Ainesh Batnike, Kamondanai Singsrikarn won the first place over Mark Grero, and Daniel Baker emerged victorious over Yousef Al-Musallami.

As for the women’s competition, Yasmine Qasi Abdullah clinched the 1st place over Anaya Rawalji, Eva Savinao won the first place over Lina Ramadan, and Henrietta Anna Boxsack secured the 1st place over Aya Sweid.

The foundation organized the Padel tournament competitions for women, held from March 15th to the 17th at the Padel IN courts.

The team of Badria Al Jassar and Marwa Baghothi claimed the first place, while the team of Buthaina Al Kuwari and Rawda Al-Suwaidi secured the second place. The 3rd place was won by the team of Mona Al Attiyah and Noor Al Kuwari.

Khalifa bin Tawar Al Kuwari Ramadan Padel Tournament Concludes


Doha: The fourth edition of the Khalifa bin Tawar Al Kuwari Ramadan Open Padel Tournament concluded Monday on the courts of the Sheraton Doha Hotel.

The event was organized by the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF).

QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Zainal praised the strong technical level demonstrated by the players participating in the tournament, which has become one of the prominent local tournaments that attracts professional players as well as amateurs.

Ramadan Officers Football Championship 2024 Wraps Up


Doha: The Ramadan officers football championship 2024 concluded in the attendance of HE Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, Staff Lieutenant-General (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad bin Aqeel Al Nabit.

The event saw gripping competitions among 13 participating sides. The Qatar Amiri Air Force team defeated the Police College team in the final.

HE the Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces crowned the winners.

11th Ashghal Ramadan Tournament Concludes


Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) crowned on Monday winners at the 11th Ashghal Ramadan Tournament as the multi-sport event wrapped up.

Several Ashghal officials and representatives of the participating companies attended the award ceremony for the winners in the competitions of football, basketball, table tennis, PlayStation – FIFA, and Baby foot.

Director of the tournament, Mohammed Majid Al Muhannadi said the event brought together over 600 players from the Ashghals various departments and other participating companies and a large crowd turn-out.

He added that the tournament organizing committee was keen to diversify the competitions to guarantee a huge participation, as part of its efforts to motivate the practice of sports and boost collaboration between Ashghal staffers and the companies cooperating with it.

Meanwhile, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation, Mohammed Saad Al Mughaiseeb hailed the cooperation between the Federation and the Ashghal to organize basketball competitions, p
ointing out that the competitions featured 18 teams in a reflection of the growing passion for this important sport in Qatar.

Bologna Beat Salernitana 3-0 in Italian Serie A


Rome, Bologna team cruised past Italian Serie A’s bottom side Salernitana 3-0 on Monday to continue their charge towards a first-ever appearance in the Champions League.

Bologna closed to within just two points of third-place Juventus, as Riccardo Orsolini and Alexis Saelemaekers curlers ruin Stefano Colantuonos Salernitana debut.

Riccardo Orsolini opened the scoring after 14 minutes with a tremendous left-foot shot from outside the box and Alexis Saelemaekers doubled Bolognas lead a minute from halftime.

Left back Charalampos Lykogiannis completed the scoring in stoppage time after working a neat one-two with Saelemaekers.

Expo Stars League Week 19: Al Sadd Maintain the Lead -1-


The exciting competition continued both at the top and bottom between the teams to win and collect points before the league enters the decisive rounds. Al Sadd continued their winning run, maintaining the top spot reaching 43 points, ahead of Al Gharafa, second with 40 points. Al Sadd beat Al Markhiya, while Al Gharafa won over Al Arabi to keep the contest hot in the top four with a difference of three points from the leaders.

Al Wakrahs victory over Qatar SC raised their tally to 37 points to stay in third place with Al Rayyan in fourth place with 35 points and Al Arabi in fifth position with 23 points after their loss to Al Gharafa.

As for Al Duhail, the side suffered their eighth loss of the season being defeated by Al Rayyan 2-0 and The Red Knights tally stayed on 22 points to be in sixth place.

Al Shamal raised their tally to 21 points, one point behind Al Duhail and two points behind Al Arabi. As for Al Ahli, their tally is stuck on 20 points, the side falling to eighth place, followed by Umm Salal,
who fell to ninth with the same number of points on goal difference. Qatar SC stood 10th with 16 points.

Muaither regained the winning touch after four rounds by beating Umm Salal 2-1. The result raised Muaithers tally to 14 points in 11th place. Al Markhiya, meanwhile, remained in 12th place with eight points.

Expo Stars League Week 19: Al Sadd Maintain the Lead


Doha: The 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League continued with Week 19 matches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with intense competition and excitement whether at the top, middle or bottom of the standings.

In Week 19 of the Expo Stars League, Al Shamal beat Al Ahli 2-1; Umm Salal lost to Muaither 1-2; Qatar SC lost to Al Wakrah 1-5; Al Arabi lost to Al Gharafa 0-1; Al Rayyan beat Al Duhail 2-0; and Al Markhiya lost to Al Sadd 1-2.

The round witnessed 18 goals being scored in six matches with an average of three goals per match. The six matches saw a result and the round did not witness any draw. The most number of goals were scored in Qatar SC vs Al Wakrah (six goals).

The yellow card was shown 31 times and the red card once, which was to Al Arabi player Wassim Keddari. Al Gharafa and Al Rayyan were the teams with clean sheets.

Four players scored two goals each during the week: Tiago Leanco of Muaither against Umm Salal, Mohamed Benyettou and Jacinto Dala of Al Wakrah against Qatar SC, and Roger Guedes of A
l Rayyan against Al Duhail.

As for the competition at the bottom of the standings, Muaither and Al Shamal emerged as the most prominent beneficiaries during the week as Al Shamal advanced from ninth to seventh place. Although Muaither remained in 11th place, the team gained three valuable points also benefiting from the stumble of some teams competing to move away from the relegation zone, widening the difference to six points with bottom-placed Al Markhiya and reducing the difference to two points with Qatar SC (10th).

Expo Stars League: Al Sadd Defeat Al Markhiya to Secure Top Spot


Doha: Al Sadd secured a 2-1 victory over Al Markhiya in Sunday’s match at the Grand Hamad Stadium at Al Arabi SC in Week 19 of the Expo Stars League.

Akram Afif scored for Al Sadd from the penalty spot in the 65th minute, and Youssef Abdulrazzaq in the 90+8th minute. Al Markhiya’s lone goal was scored by Ali Saeed Al Muhannadi in the 26th minute.

Al Sadd raised their tally to 43 points at the top of the standings, three points clear of Al Gharafa. Meanwhile, Al Markhiya suffered their fourteenth loss, remaining at the bottom of the table with 8 points.

President of QOC Crowns Winners of Nishan Ooredoo Shooting Championship


Doha: HE President of the Qatari Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani crowned on Sunday the winners of the Nishan Ooredoo Shooting Championship and the inaugural edition of the Qatari shooting league for the shotgun category.

The ceremony was attended by several QOC officials and employees and the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association.

HE First Vice President of QOC, Mohammed bin Yousef Al Mana, praised the exceptional atmosphere witnessed during the conclusion of the ‘Nishan Ooredoo’ shooting championship. He noted that Qatari shooting has achieved and continues to achieve many accomplishments, raising the Qatari flag in various regional and international arenas.

He further stated that the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association is making significant efforts to elevate this sport and achieve more international success.

He emphasized that the ‘Nishan Ooredoo’ championship is one of the competitive tournaments that motivates Qatari shooters in the splendid Ramadan atmosphere to defend their ch
ances in future competitions. He highlighted that the association has provided all the logistical, organizational, and technical support for this edition to be as successful as possible.

President of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, Dr. Mishaal Ibrahim Al Nasr, expressed his happiness with the great success witnessed in the shotgun competitions at the ‘Nishan Ooredoo’ championship.

He commended the outstanding performances of the national team players, emphasizing that this championship serves as a significant incentive for all players and amateurs to enhance their levels and deliver their best in upcoming tournaments.

Al Nasr also praised the champions of the inaugural edition of the Qatari Archery League, especially as the external preparatory rounds for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games were integrated with the league.

He mentioned that the best three rounds were selected, confirming full readiness to host the final international tournament next month, which serves as a crucial qualifica
tion event for the Paris 2024 Olympics. He emphasized that this competition will witness strong competition between Qatari players and the world champions.

Expo Stars League: Al Rayyan Edge Al Duhail


Doha: Al Rayyan defeated Al Duhail 2-0 on Sunday at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in Week 19 of the Expo Stars League.

Brazilian striker Roger Guedes scored both goals for Al Rayyan in the 80th and 86th minutes.

Al Rayyan raised their tally to 35 points, consolidating their position in fourth place.

Meanwhile, Al Duhail’s points remained at 22, as they suffered their eighth loss of the season, placing them sixth in the standings.

Closing of football championship in Dhalea
