Egypt’s al-Azhar dispatch a large aid convoy to the devastated Gaza Strip

EGYPT, Monday, May 24, 2021 (WAFA) – A relief aid convey sent by Egypt’s leading Islamic institute Al-Azhar has arrived today in the Gaza Strip, three days after a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinians came into effect, according to Mahmoud Siddiq, vice president of Al-Azhar University.
The aid convoy consists of 150 tons of food.
Egypt has brokered the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Palestinian factions that went into effect early Friday morning. Eleven days of Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip left around 250 people dead, over 60 of them children, and large-scale devastation in buildings and infrastructure, leaving thousands of families homeless.
