Eight Palestinians who drowned at Aegean Sea in late December laid to rest

Eight Palestinians and another four Syrian nationals who drowned at the Aegean Sea off Greece on December 24 were laid to rest today in the Greek city of Komotini, the embassy of the State of Palestine to Greece said in a statement.

The funeral ceremony of the 12 Palestinian and Syrian migrants was attended by a delegation from the Palestinian embassy, families of the victims and representatives of the Palestinian community in Greece.

The 12 victims died on December 24 when a smuggling boat carrying them in the Aegean Sea capsized, according to Greek military authorities.

According to Greek reports, 63 migrants were rescued in the tragic incident.
