Head of Palestinian Football Association condemns settler’s shooting of a footballer in Jerusalem

President of the Palestinian Football Association (PFA), Jibril Rajoub, has condemned the crime committed by an Israeli settler who opened gunfire at Khader Ghorab, a footballer of the Hilal Al-Quds F.C., which resulted in his injury in the hand and neck in the Old City of Jerusalem. Ghorab was hospitalized as a result of the shooting attack. Rajoub said in a press statement that the crime of shooting Ghorab ‘is a continuation of the series of crimes committed by the Israeli occupation army and settlers against Palestinian athletes and sports, which represents a flagrant violation of all international humanitarian and sports laws and covenants.’ ‘This is a crime that the international sports movement cannot tolerate or ignore,’ Rajoub stressed, calling on all the stakeholders concerned to provide protection to athletes in Palestine in view of the human rights violations by the Israeli occupation forces and settlers. He said that the PFA has sent urgent letters to all the concerned international and regional federations to open an investigation into the ongoing crimes of the Israeli occupation against athletes in Palestine.
