Leadership calls for US pressure on Israel to halt Gaza onslaught, Jerusalem expulsions

The Palestinian leadership today called for intensified US pressure on Israel to halt the ongoing onslaught on Gaza and the forced expulsions of Palestinian from Jerusalem.

Fatah Central Committee member, Hussein al-Sheikh, General Intelligence chief, Majid Faraj, and President Mahmoud Abbas’ Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs, Majdi Khaldi, urged the US to spare no effort and bring every pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately stop their aggression against Gaza as well as the forced displacements of Palestinians from Jerusalem, particularly the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, respect the holy places and bring the unbridled settler terrorism to an end.

The officials made this call during a meeting with the US envoy for Israel-Palestinian Affairs, Hady Amr, along with the accompanying delegation in Ramallah.

They briefed Amr and his delegation on the latest political developments on the Palestinian arena as well as issues of mutual concern, and warned against continued Israeli aggression, which would completely destroy any prospect for reviving a serious peace process conducive to a comprehensive and just solution ensuring ending the Israeli occupation and the establishment of the Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
