OIC denounces Israeli crackdown on Palestinian prisoners

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has condemned the ongoing Israeli crackdown measures and attacks against Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli jails, stressing its permanent support for their right to freedom, justice and dignity.

In a statement issued today, the OIC’s General Secretariat called on the international community to intervene to pressure Israel, the occupying power, to stop these crackdown measures and practices against the Palestinian prisoners, and to ensure their treatment in accordance with the rules of international law and international humanitarian law.

Over the past two days, massive rallies have taken place across the occupied West Bank in support of Palestinian prisoners and in condemnation of the Israeli revenge attacks against them following the escape of six prisoners from Gilboa prison on Sunday-Monday night.

Israeli occupation authorities have also canceled family visits for Palestinian inmates until the end of this month as part of its retaliation campaign against the prisoners.
