Palestine logs five more cases of Omicron, official says

Five more cases of the Omicron mutant of COVID-19 have been registered in Palestine during the last few days, bringing up the total number of cases registered in the country to 23, said Kamal Shakhra, a spokesman of the Ministry of Health.

Shakhra told WAFA the five new Omicron cases were registered in the West Bank provinces of Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Jericho, adding that the medical teams of the Ministry of Health are working hard to track any new cases to avoid a new outbreak of the disease as is the case on many neighboring countries.

He added that all the 23 Omicron cases registered in the country so far had only mild symptoms and did not develop into severe disease that required hospitalization.

The MoH spokesman pointed out that the overall COVID situation in Palestine is currently under control, but urged the public to adhere to the safety measures and precautions and to get vaccinated or boosted as soon as possible to avoid any restrictions on public life in the event of a new outbreak of the disease.
