Russia condemns Israeli forces attacks on al-Aqsa mosque worshipers

Russia Saturday condemned Israeli police attacks against Palestinians at Jerusalem’s flashpoint al-Aqsa mosque compound and urged both sides to refrain from escalating violence, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in a press statement.

Russia stressed that it is following with deep concern the recent developments, strongly condemning attacks against civilians and calling on all parties to refrain from any steps that could lead to a further escalation of violence.

Russia reaffirmed its firm and consistent position that the expropriation of land and property located on it, and the creation of settlements by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, have no legal force.

Russia slammed such actions as a blatant violation of international law, which impede the achievement of a peaceful settlement based on the creation of two states living side by side in peace and security, based on the 1967 borders.
