Settlers attack Palestinian family on a trip near Ramallah

Extremist Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian family today while the latter were on a trip near the village of Kafr Ni’ma, to the west of Ramallah city in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources. No injuries were reported.

Thafer Ataya, a Palestinian citizen, said two Israeli settlers who came on a bike attacked him and his family while they were having their lunch outdoors during a trip outside the village.

He said his family and he tried to fend off the attack, before an Israeli army patrol arrived at the scene to secure the settlers out of the area.

Ataya added that an Israeli army officer informed him “not to make troubles” although he tried to defend himself and his family, and that the settlers were the ones who started the attack.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.

There are over 700,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
