Water ministry launches donor platform

The Ministry of Water and Irrigation/ Water Authority has initiated a pilot launch of a digital platform designed for donors and partners, offering comprehensive information on funding amounts, grants, and financing schemes and agreements for each donor or funding organization involved in water and sanitation projects. In an official statement released Monday, the ministry explained that the platform enables financiers to track the projects they fund, as well as the completion rates, objectives, and performance indicators of each project. Moreover, the platform provides in-depth data on upcoming strategic plans for the water sector and the projects designated for financing, promoting transparency, ease of access to information, and governance in the water sector to fulfill both national and international transparency requirements and standards. The ministry pointed out that the platform is part of an integrated system that oversees the execution of water sector strategies and allows for the monitoring of strategy implementation from the vision, mission, strategic objectives, and methods of achievement stages. Furthermore, the ministry stated that this system offers real-time monitoring mechanisms for primary and secondary performance indicators, providing decision-makers with a clear understanding of the degree of success in executing plans, thus enabling them to make well-informed decisions promptly. The authority also noted that the forthcoming comprehensive system for strategy governance will encompass the introduction of additional digital platforms, focusing on key water sector stakeholders, including the House of Representatives, Senate, and provincial councils platform.
