Kuwait: HH Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Sunday issued an Amiri Order accepting the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah’s government and instructed them to act as care-taker until formation of a new cabinet.

According to Kuwait news agency (KUNA), the order stipulated notifying the National Assembly of the Order and publishing it in the official gazette.

New York, The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations (UN), in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations, along with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC) organized a meeting on Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies, held in the UN’s headquarter in New York, as part of the State of Qatar co-chairing the Group of Friends of Sport for Development and Peace.

A number of officials concerned with the matter participated in the meeting, including the Communications and Media Executive Director at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Fatma Al Nuaimi, Generation Amazing Foundation Executive Director Nasser Al Khori, Director of the Outreach Division in the DGC Maher Nasser, Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications Melissa Fleming, and Director of Development at the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONC
ACAF) Jason Roberts.

In her talk, Communications and Media Executive Director at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Fatma Al Nuaimi focused on the role of sport in promoting understanding and cultural exchange and dispelling stereotypes. Al Nuaimi stressed that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ?and its legacy programs built bridges between East and West, as well as projected a positive image of the Arab region and the capabilities of its people.

Moreover, Al Nuaimi discussed the State of Qatar’s preparations to host the historic World Cup edition, detailing the organizers’ efforts to ensure maximum benefit from the tournament and leaving a positive and sustainable legacy that contributes to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030 for the benefit of future generations.

For his part, Generation Amazing Foundation Executive Director Nasser Al Khori said that the Foundation supports both individuals and communities through its innovative programs relating to football, which provide participants with f
undamental skills such as teamwork. Al Khori also addressed a number of important issues, among them gender inequality in various fields.

Al Khori added that since its inception, Generation Amazing has been able to reach 75 countries and support more than a million children worldwide, underscoring the Foundation’s current efforts in providing psychological and social support through sports for Palestinians evacuated from the Gaza Strip to the State of Qatar.

Furthermore, the Generation Amazing Foundation Executive Director highlighted the strategic partnership with CONCACAF, indicating that the partnership extends the legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 to the FIFA World Cup 26 to be held in Canada, the US, and Mexico.

He added that the program is a football for development initiative that aids young people make positive changes in their communities.

Islamabad, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, discussed in a phone call with his American counterpart, Antony Blinken, the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Both sides affirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest during the call.

London: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called Sunday for an immediate halt to the war waged by the Israeli entity on the Gaza Strip since October 7th.

In a statement, Sunak said that Britain is “shocked by the bloodshed” in Gaza, demanding the end of this terrible war. He added that hostages must be released, and aid must flow.

The British prime minister said, “But the whole of the UK is shocked by the bloodshed, and appalled by the killing of brave British heroes who were bringing food to those in need,” referring to the incident of the killing of seven relief workers, including three Britons, who were part of the team of the World Central Kitchen (WCK) organization, in an Israeli drone strike last Monday.

Sunak stressed that the children of Gaza need an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, leading to a sustainable long-term cessation of fire, considering it the fastest way to release the hostages and deliver aid.

In a joint statement, Palestinian Prisoners Society and Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said that the occupation forces detained at least 15 Palestinians in the West Bank since last night, including two previously detained women and a child.

The statement added that the arrests took place in the governorates of Jerusalem, Hebron, Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Jenin.

It elaborated that the occupation forces carry out widespread raids and harassment during their arrest campaigns, along with beatings, threats against detainees and their families, direct shooting with the aim of killing, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction of Palestinian homes.

New York, The United Nations Security Council will convene a meeting on Monday to decide on the full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations.

Palestine has sent a letter to the Security Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations regarding this matter, supported by the Arab Group, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement.

Currently, Palestine holds the non-member observer state status, where observer status does not grant the right to vote on resolutions adopted by the General Assembly or compete for non-permanent membership in the Security Council.

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) urged parents to expedite the registration of their new and transferring students during the period specified by the ministry, starting from April 21st until the beginning of the new academic year 2024 – 2025.

Speaking to the Qatar News Agency , Director of School and Student Affairs Department at MOEHE, Maryam Ali Al Nesef Al Boainain, revealed that the expected number of new students to be registered this year is approximately 16,584 boys and girls. She also stated that the number of students in public schools currently stands at 137,070 boys and girls from kindergarten to the 12th grade for the academic year 2023 – 2024.

She said that the number of government schools in all stages is 214 schools for boys and girls, including 89 for elementary, 46 for preparatory, 49 for secondary, 26 combined schools (more than one educational level in the same school), and 4 mixed schools, in addition to 64 kindergarten schools.

Regarding integration schools,
she said that their number reaches 93 schools, and the number of integrated students in all stages amounts to 3,446 boys and girls.

Al Boainain emphasized the importance of updating all parents’ data and documents regarding the registration and transfer of their children to any stage of the educational process, whether the student is new or transferring from a private to a government school. This includes phone numbers, electricity bills, and updating health files from now on, as there is full coordination with the Primary Health Care Corporation in this regard.

She also stressed the importance for parents to choose a school within their geographical area for their child, and in case of registration, communication will be made with the parents through a message sent via the ministry’s system dedicated to this purpose. She pointed out that this year the focus was on the geographical area, aiming for the student to be close to his school and have access to transportation to avoid long commuting times and over
crowding in specific schools.

Director of School and Student Affairs Department at MOEHE emphasized the importance of the geographical area of the school to be suitable and close to the student’s place of residence, providing him with a conducive environment for academic achievement. She mentioned that the reservation period for a seat at the school is only 3 working days, and in case the required documents for registration are not completed during this period, the reservation will be canceled.

Al Boainain outlined the stages of registering and transferring students, starts with early electronic registration, with priority in this regard is given to Qataris, the children of Qataris, and the children of GCC citizens to register in the same school where their siblings study, during the period from April 21 to June 20. Parents can register their child as a new student in the first grade or kindergarten or any other stage based on available vacancies.

She explained that early registration for all nationalities
will start on May 26 and continue until June 20 through the “Maarif” portal for public services on the ministry’s website, which includes several links serving parents, such as the “Where is my school?” link, the registration link and uploading the required documents. Parents can find out the location of their child’s school based on the electricity number, without the need to go to the ministry or the school for personal registration.

Regarding the nursery stage (age 3 years before kindergarten), Maryam Al Boainain noted that registration for it will be through the same electronic link mentioned on the same date, in 4 schools, including two elementary and two model schools.

Registration for technical and specialized schools will be done by going directly to the schools with the required conditions for registration during the period from April 28 to June 20.

As for students with special needs, Al Boainain emphasized that government schools provide support services for students with disabilities. Parents wh
o have children with disabilities and have not completed the health file are required to transfer them to “Roua” center to assess the student’s level, facilitating the registration process later on. She clarified that this type of schools provides advanced and developed services according to the type of disability, and the ministry has high-level integration centers, while planning to open new integration schools in the future at the state level.

In her statement to QNA, Director of School and Student Affairs Department at MOEHE, Maryam Ali Al Nesef Al Boainain, affirmed that the ministry provides all the necessary resources to facilitate the student registration process. She mentioned that three consecutive workshops have been held to train and qualify specialized teams on the registration process and its updates.

Regarding the transfer of students from one stage to another, such as from kindergarten to first grade or from fourth grade in model schools to fifth and sixth grades in primary school for boys,
or from the ninth grade to the tenth grade, Al Boainain stated that this process started in March by government schools. This year, there is a focus on the geographical location of the school to avoid overcrowding in classrooms, ensure security and safety measures in schools, and thus distribute students correctly among schools offering the same curriculum, fostering Qatari identity, Islamic values, academic aspects, and students’ mental health, along with providing advanced educational resources, in-school and extracurricular activities, and equal participation opportunities in various competitions to mold students into good citizens. The aim is also to accommodate individual differences among students and foster their love for learning through activities.

Concerning kindergarten, Al Boainain noted that each teacher with a bachelor’s degree supervises only 12 students, leading to significant awareness and interest from parents in enrolling their children in this stage.

Regarding secondary education, she me
ntioned that the ministry aims to help students determine their future through academic and counseling guidance, identifying their interests to choose the appropriate specialization. This underscores the importance of positive communication and partnership with parents, aiming not only for academic success but also for developing students’ personalities to become responsible citizens prepared for future job markets, confident in themselves, articulate speakers, and prominent leaders regionally and internationally.

Al Boainain mentioned that the ministry monitors valuable services that allow students to interact with teachers, including the process of distributing students appropriately within schools and classrooms, ensuring a high-quality educational environment that is attractive and stimulating for students, and preventing overcrowding in classrooms.

Al Boainain pointed out that approximately 16,584 new students are expected to enroll this year.

She explained that all schools are committed to new regist
ration mechanism. The new addition this time is the automatic transfer of students, as part of the ministry’s efforts to improve this service and avoid related problems at the beginning of each new academic year.

Director of School and Student Affairs stressed that there are no exceptions in the registration process. She stated that the ministry only considers the student’s age characteristics. If the desired school is not available in the geographical area or has no vacancies, parents are required to accept the alternative school.

Doha: The Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has called on all Muslims living in Qatar to sight the crescent of Shawwal on Monday evening, Ramadan 29, 1445 AH, corresponding to April 08, 2023.

The committee said whoever witnesses the crescent should head to the committee’s headquarters at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs in Al Dafna (Towers) area to report their testimony.

The committee will meet immediately after the Maghrib prayer on the same day.

Mogadishu, Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre on Sunday made a Cabinet reshuffle.

According to Somali national new agency (SONNA), Barre appointed Ahmed Moalim Fiqi as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Ali Yusuf Ali (Hosh) as Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation; Abdullahi Sheikh Ismael as Minister of Internal Security; Abdullahi Bidhan Warsame as Minister of Energy and Water; Mohamed Adan Moalim, as Minister of Posts, Communications and Technology; Ahmed Omar Mohamed, as State Minister of Environment and Climate Change.

Late March 2024, the Somali Parliament approved, by a majority, amendments to the country’s constitution, including the election of the President of the Republic, who in turn appoints and dismisses the Prime Minister.

Gaza: The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced Sunday that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7 has risen to 33,175 martyrs in addition to 75,886 wounded.

In its statement today, the ministry said that the Israeli occupation forces committed four massacres against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip over the past 24-hours, resulting in 38 martyrs and 17 wounded, with many victims remaining under the rubble due to the inability of ambulance vehicles and the civil defense from arriving to their locations.

The unprecedented Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip continues for the 184th day, on land, air, and sea, destroying infrastructure and resulting in an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy, as hundreds of thousands of the Strip’s residents live in extremely difficult conditions in light of the lack of water and electricity as the occupation authorities prevent humanitarian aid from reaching them.
