Another rise recorded in the number of new COVID-19 cases in Palestine

Palestine today confirmed 254 new Covid-19 cases, according to Health Minister Mai Alkaila, ushering in a new rise in number of new infections.

She said in her daily report on the pandemic that 109 cases were recorded n the West Bank in the last 24 hours and 145 in the Gaza Strip.

She added that 15 Covid-19 patients recovered in the West Bank and 20 in the Gaza Strip.

Alkaila pointed that 15 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including two who are on ventilators, and 25 others are currently receiving treatment at hospitals.

She said that the recovery rate since the outbreak of the disease in Palestine in March of last year has so far reached 98.3 percent and the active cases account for 0.6 percent. The death toll stood at 1.1 percent of total infections.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, Alkaila said that 614,176 people have received their first jab of the vaccine in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, including 425,117 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
