Consular Services And Flights Between Syria And Saudi Arabia Resumed

Syria and Saudi Arabia announced, in a joint statement, the resumption of consular services and flights between the two countries.

In a joint press statement at the end of the visit of the Syrian Foreign Minister, Faisal Al-Miqdad, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, “Within the framework of the keenness and interest that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches to everything that would serve the issues of our Arab nation and promote the interests of its countries and peoples, and in response to an invitation from Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud Saudi Foreign Minister, Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Miqdad visited the Kingdom yesterday, Wednesday.

The statement added, “A session of talks was held between the two sides, during which they discussed the efforts exerted to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria that preserves its unity, security, stability, Arab identity, and territorial integrity in a way that achieves the good of the Syrian people.”

The two sides agreed on the importance of resolving humanitarian difficulties, providing a suitable environment for aid to reach all regions of Syria, creating the necessary conditions for the return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons to their areas, ending their suffering, enabling them to return safely to their homeland, and taking more measures that would contribute to stabilizing the situation throughout the Syrian territory. “.

The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening security and combating terrorism in all its forms and organizations, and enhancing cooperation in combating drug smuggling and trafficking, and the need to support the Syrian state institutions to extend their control over its lands to end the presence of armed militias and external interference in Syrian internal affairs.

The two sides discussed the necessary steps to achieve a comprehensive political settlement to the crisis in Syria, ending all its repercussions, achieving national reconciliation, and contributing to Syria’s return to its Arab surroundings and the resumption of its natural role in the Arab world.

At the end of the statement, the two sides welcomed the start of procedures for resuming consular services and flights between the two countries.

Al-Miqdad expressed Syria’s appreciation for the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to end the crisis in Syria and to provide humanitarian and relief aid to those affected by the earthquake that struck Syria.
