Consultative meeting in Sana’a on problems, needs of rural and coastal women


National Committee for Women organized today in Sana’a, ta consultative meeting on the problems , needs of rural and coastal Yemeni women under the slogan ‘Yemeni women are partners in development’ in cooperation with the Women’s Protection Bloc.

The meeting reviewed the committee’s tasks in addressing issues of concern to women and drawing up policies for them, and was part of a lecture by the revolution leader , Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, on the importance of local production and achieving self-sufficiency in all needs and requirements.

While the head of the committee, Dr. Ghada Abu Taleb, reviewed the problems, difficulties , needs of rural women, and the mechanism for empowering them to ensure the preservation of their dignity.

She stressed the importance of forming a committee of relevant authorities to conduct studies on identifying the priorities and needs of rural women within a strategic development framework, as well as continuous coordination between the National Committee for Wom
en, the General Authority of Zakat, the Agricultural Cooperative Union, and the Ministry of Agriculture in a way that serves the permanent development of rural women.

Abu Talib pointed out the importance of continuous awareness about the agricultural aspect and animal husbandry in order to achieve self-sufficiency and develop the capabilities of rural women in raising livestock.

The meeting was attended by the heads of the National Committee’s branches in the provinces, members of the Women’s Department in government agencies, the representative of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, and a number of the committee’s female employees.
