Deputy Speaker Of Parliament Stresses The Importance Of The Child Protection Law For Future Generations

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, stressed the importance of the draft child protection law for future generations.

Mandalawi, in a speech during his sponsorship of a discussion session on (child protection), in the presence of the heads of a number of parliamentary committees (women, family and childhood, labor and civil society organizations, legal, human rights), a number of MPs, representatives of the relevant ministries, civil society organizations, and specialists in this regard, said “the legislative institution is interested in amending and maturing the draft child protection law, so that it meets international standards and agreements,” noting that “the large number of violations that have been monitored in the past periods regarding children and the willful neglect by the previous regime pushes everyone to work diligently in order to legislate this important law. “.

He stressed, “the importance of the (child protection) draft law for future generations,” directing “parliamentary committees concerned to give the draft the necessary importance, and to take into account the observations submitted by the parties participating in the session in order to reach the best formulations and contents, so that it becomes an appropriate, applicable and ambitious law.”

He pointed to “the Council’s keenness to abide by the constitution, especially Article (30/First), which stipulates: “The state guarantees to the individual and the family – especially children and women – social and health security, and the basic necessities for living a decent life that provides them with adequate income and adequate housing.”

During the session, an overview of the draft law was presented, emphasizing its importance for future generations, exchanging views among the participants to prepare its paragraphs, coming up with a number of important recommendations, and emphasizing the need to expedite the completion of its discussion and the ripening of its paragraphs to include it on the agenda of the House of Representatives during the coming period.
