Hneifat, SDC discuss ways to implement agricultural projects

Ministry of Agriculture and Smart DESERT Company (SDC), a non-profit firm aimed to economically empower farmers, on Saturday discussed ways to network local and foreign markets, sign marketing contracts, manage promotion process, and possibility of implementing and planning agriculture and food projects. Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, SDC Chairman, Bassem Saleh, and Director of the subsidiary of Smart Desert Project funded by French Development Agency (AFD), Thabet Hasweh, head of Jordanian-Palestinian Agricultural Products Marketing Company (JPACO), Aladdin Abu Khair, discussed mechanisms to implement joint cooperation agreement, through which JPACO works to export products of SDC projects, which would reflect “positively” on Jordanian farms. Through National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture, Hneifat said the ministry is working to cooperate with all concerned parties to develop crops with the “highest” export value, increase their production, provide supportive guidance, and find suitable exporting markets through JPACO. For his part, JPACO General Manager, Abu Khair, said the company seeks to implement the agreement with Smart Desert Company and achieve target cultivations under its contractual terms with farmers, in light of the deals concluded with foreign markets and appropriate transport routes that serve access of agricultural products to their destinations.
