Intelligence Agency: The arrest of an infiltrated family in their possession 6 kilograms of drugs in southern Iraq

The Intelligence Agency announced today, Wednesday the arrest of a family who infiltrated into Iraq in their possession narcotic substances estimated at six kilograms.

The Agency said in a statement: “In implementation of the instructions of the Minister of Interior, which included dismantling and pursuing drug networks, and after the Intelligence Agency’s detachments followed the Iraqi border strip in southern Iraq, information became available about a group infiltrating into Iraq illegally, through the use of a boat, and immediately a work team was formed and move to the expected crossing point.

The statement added, “In a tight ambush, when the infiltrators were arrested, fire was opened towards our detachments by people riding a vehicle that was waiting for them on the Iraqi side until the boat arrived, where our detachments responded in kind and injured one of the infiltrators, where they were arrested and found to be a family consisting of men and women.”

He explained that: “When the vehicle was reconnoitered in search of the vehicle that opened fire, it was found that it was parked close to the scene of the accident, and when the vehicle was searched, 6 kilograms of narcotic substances were found.”

He pointed out, “a force from the Intelligence Agency’s detachments was injured during the exchange of fire, and a fundamental arrest report was organized, and the accused were referred to the competent authorities to receive their just punishment.”
