Iraq examines military armament from France

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Soudani on Wednesday discussed with the visiting Minister of the French Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu cooperation in the military armament sectors.

The prime minister’s office said in a statement that Al-Soudani and Lecornu discussed prospects of expanding cooperation within framework of the global coalition for enhancing performances of the Iraqi security forces.

It quoted Al-Soudani as saying that his government is interested in enhancing cooperation with France for training and arming the Iraqi forces, indicating at Baghdad’s need to reinforce the air force and develop the military industry.

Al-Soudani underscored the strategic partnership accord he inked with French officials during his visit to Paris in January.
