Turkey and Saudi Arabia call for a political solution to the conflict in Sudan and Yemen, and condemn the Israeli attacks

Turkey and Saudi Arabia called for a political solution to the conflict in Sudan and Yemen, and renewed their condemnation of the Israeli aggressions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a joint statement issued today by the two countries, following the meeting of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the city of Jeddah, the two sides stressed the importance of the commitment of the two parties to the conflict in Sudan to a permanent cease-fire and building on the Jeddah Declaration signed on May 11, in addition to the initiatives other regional.

The two sides urged the two parties to the conflict to adhere to political dialogue in order to reach a sustainable solution to the conflict, to take necessary measures to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, and to stress that a solution to the crisis can be achieved through an effective internal Sudanese political process that respects the country’s sovereignty and unity, and preserves state institutions.

On the Yemeni issue, Turkey and Saudi Arabia stressed in the statement the importance of fully supporting the international and regional efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

The two sides also affirmed their full support for the Presidential Leadership Council in the Republic of Yemen, stressing the importance of the Houthis’ positive engagement with international efforts aimed at ending the Yemeni crisis and seriously dealing with peace initiatives and efforts.

On the Palestinian issue, Turkey and Saudi Arabia expressed their condemnation of the “continuous Israeli aggressions and provocations” in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The two sides stressed the need to intensify efforts seeking to reach a comprehensive peace and a just settlement of the Palestinian issue, based on the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international legitimacy resolutions, in a way that guarantees the Palestinian people their right to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Al-Quds as its capital.

Ankara and Riyadh also renewed their condemnation of deliberate abuses of the Holy Qur’an, stressing the need to “prevent offense to all religions and sanctities” and stressing the importance of concerted efforts to spread the values of dialogue, tolerance and coexistence, rejecting hatred, extremism and exclusion, and preventing abuse of all religions and sanctities.

With regard to the restoration of relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, the Turkish side welcomed the resumption of diplomatic relations, expressing its hope that this step would contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region, in a way that preserves the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.

On the return of relations between Turkey and Egypt through the Saudi side, according to the statement, his appreciation and support for the development of relations between the two countries.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, the two sides stressed the importance of ending the war through negotiations based on international law, and giving priority to dialogue and diplomatic solutions.
