Israeli settlers today destroyed hundreds of saplings in Halhul town, north of Hebron city, according to a local official.
Saed Talahmeh, an agronomist who works for the North Hebron Directorate of Agriculture, said that while the directorate’s staff were conducting an assessment to document settler attacks in the southern West Bank town, a group of settlers destroyed a uprooted over 200 saplings of Armenian Cucumber planted in a grove belonging to Abdullah Aqel.
The assailants came from the nearby encroaching colonial settlement of Karmei Tzur.
Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Settler violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
There are over 700,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
