Israeli settlers, soldiers attack Palestinian citizens in northern West Bank village

Israeli settlers, backed by soldiers, today attacked Palestinian citizens in the northern West Bank village of Asira al-Qiblya, south of Nablus, according to Ghassan Daghlas, a local official.

He said settlers attacked the homes of Palestinians in the eastern section of Asira al-Qiblya and when the residents confronted them, the soldiers intervened to protect the settlers and attacked the residents.

Dozens of residents suffered from suffocation after the soldiers fired teargas in their direction.

The soldiers also held the head of the village council, said Daghlas.
