Israel’s demolition of a Palestinian prisoner’s house in Silat al-Harithiya focus of dailies

The three Palestinian Arabic-language dailies focused today on the punitive demolition by Israeli occupation forces of the family house of Palestinian prisoner Omar Jaradat in the town of Silat al-Harithiya.

The dailies said an army unit raided the town of Silat al-Harthiyeh, west of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, on Friday night and blew up the family home of Omar Jaradat, a prisoner in Israeli jails.

Al-Quds said Israeli settlers carried out attacks yesterday against Palestinians in the town of Surif, in the West Bank province of Hebron, and in the town of Beita, in Nablus province.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida said the United States State Department criticized Israeli plans to expand the illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories saying they exacerbate tensions and undermine trust between the parties.

Al-Ayyam said injuries were reported among Palestinian civilians during confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces in the towns of Kafr Qaddum and Beit Ummar in the occupied West Bank.

Al-Quds and Al-Ayyam said 11 Egyptian soldiers were killed yesterday in an attack west of the Sinai Peninsula.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida and Al-Quds said the Presidency of the State of Palestine strongly condemned the deadly “terror” attack east of the Suez Canal in the Sinai Peninsula which resulted in the killing of one Egyptian officer and 10 soldiers.

Al-Ayyam said the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC), the EU body in charge of coordinating the delivery of international aid to Palestinians, is expected to meet in Brussels on Tuesday.

Al-Quds said Egypt and Qatar expressed their concerns over Israel’s okaying of nearly 4,000 settlement housing units in the occupied West Bank, saying the move will provoke further tensions.
