Mother, three children among eight Palestinians detained from West Bank

Israeli forces Monday overnight detained at least eight Palestinians, including a mother and her three children, in multiple West Bank raids, according to local and security sources and the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS confirmed that Israeli forces rounded up a mother together with her two sons and 17-year-old daughter, all members of the Kaabneh clan, from north of Jericho city.

In the northern West Bank, special Israeli forces abducted a teen after breaking into a park at the northeastern entrance of Jenin city, as reported by PPS Office Director Muntaser Sammur.

Sammur added that the soldiers detained two other Palestinians as they cracked down on rallies in solidarity with Gaza near al-Jalameh checkpoint, north of Jenin.

In Ramallah and al-Bireh district, Israeli military vehicles stormed Deir Abu Mashaal village, northwest of the city, where soldiers re-arrested a former prisoner.

The soldiers also conducted a similar raid in Beit Rima town, northwest of Ramallah city, where they rounded up another.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers hurled a concussion bomb at a Palestinian inside a store in the Old City of Hebron, inflicting wounds in his hand. The casualty was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
