Palestine confirms 1,026 new coronavirus cases, death case

Palestine today confirmed 1,026 new Covid-19 cases and a death case, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

She announced that 1,026 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and another died of it in the occupied territories.

As part of the 1,026 new cases, 522 cases were registered in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and 504 others in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Kaileh identified the death case as a resident of the city of Jericho.

She added that 293 Covid-19 patients recovered; 193 recovery cases in the West Bank and 100 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 31 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units and 71 others are currently receiving treatment at hospitals and Covid-19 dispensaries, including three who are intubated.

She said that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 96.9 percent and the active cases account for 2 percent. The death toll stood at 1.1 percent of total infections.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 692,651 people have received their first jab of the vaccine in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, including 436,410 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
