Palestine records 440 COVID cases, nine deaths

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 440 new cases of COVID-19, nine deaths and 781 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last day.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said four deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the Gaza Strip, while another five deaths were reported in the West Bank.

A total of 4,412 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period. In the Gaza Strip, 259 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had 181 new cases.

No update was available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 135 patients of COVID-19 are hospitalized, of whom 65 are in intensive care, including 10 on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 96.3 percent, while active cases declined to 2.7 percent. Deaths stood at only one percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the Health Minister said a total of 1,219,461 people have been fully vaccinated across Palestine, including 904,998 in the West Bank and 314,463 in Gaza.
