Saudi Arabia defeats Argentina 2-1 in World Cup Group C

DOHA– The Saudi national football team today defeated the Argentinian team 2-1 in the first game for Group C in the World Cup played in Lusail Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha.

Argentinian star Lionel Messi scored the first goal for his team 10 minutes after the start of the game from a penalty kick.

Three minutes after the start of the second half, Saudi player Saleh al-Shahri equalized the score for the Saudi national team, followed by another goal from Salem al-Dosari in the 53rd minute, giving the Saudi team the lead in the game, which continued until the game ended after more than 14 minutes in overtime.

Saudi goalkeeper al-Owais excelled in defending his goal and denied Argentina several attempts to score.

Saudi Arabia now leads Group C, which also includes Poland and Mexico, with three points.
