Search for border guard lost in recent floods continues: Army

A Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army official on Wednesday said the search for 1st Lit. Muthana Shuqirat, who was carried away by flash floods while on duty in his military vehicle on the southern borders of the Kingdom last week, is still underway. Furthermore, the official stated that the Armed Forces’ General Command has deployed all available resources, including search and rescue teams backed by aircraft from the Royal Air Force and specialized civil defense units, adding that search efforts have been augmented by the use of drones and advanced technological tools, all in the hopes of finding the missing officer. The official elaborated that the search has been rendered challenging by the fact that last week’s torrential rain has altered the topography of the search area by eroding rocks and dust and creating floodwater ponds that can reach several meters deep in some places
