Settlers break into West Bank village while soldiers attack its Palestinian residents with tear gas

Hordes of Israeli settlers broke today into the Ramallah-area village of Midya and when residents attempted to confront them, soldiers, protecting the settlers, fired tear gas at the residents causing several suffocation cases, according to local sources.

The settlers claim that there are Jewish shrines in the village while residents fear the settlers use this as a pretext to steal their lands and build a settlement in the area.

Midya, with 1600 people, is already surrounded by the illegal settlements of Modain and Hashmonaim, both built on appropriated village land.
