Signing agreement between Civil Aviation and Maritime Affairs authorities to exchange experiences


The Civil Aviation and Meteorological and Maritime Affairs authorities signed yesterday in Sana’a a joint cooperation agreement in the field of marine meteorology and the exchange of experiences, data and information in the dissemination of weather and climate warnings and warnings to reduce disasters.

The agreement included providing the Maritime Affairs Authority with the regular marine bulletin and weather forecasts, as well as the required marine bulletin in emergency situations related to the timely response to marine pollution incidents, in accordance with the regulations in force in the meteorological sector.

The agreement focused on providing the Maritime Affairs Authority – Meteorological Sector with data on the magnitude of disasters resulting from weather phenomena when they occur based on their supervision of the conduct of ships, ensuring the safety of maritime navigation, coordination between the Civil Aviation and Meteorological and Maritime Affairs Authorities with regard to external project
s, supporting the establishment, development and modernization of a national center for marine meteorology and the development of marine meteorological services.

Deputy Minister of Transport Mohammed Al Hashemi pointed out that the agreement aims to exchange experiences and information, support the establishment of a national center for marine meteorology, and develop capabilities in providing its services in a timely manner to all segments of society and relevant state bodies and institutions to mitigate the effects of advanced weather disasters such as hurricanes, rain and strong winds.

He stressed the need to activate services between the two bodies in providing important marine meteorological services, pointing to the importance of meteorological services for maritime navigation of ships passing through the Arabian and Red Sea through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, except for ships that have hostile positions with the Yemeni people, especially at this sensitive stage.

Al-Hashemi urged everyone to benefit fr
om the studies and experiences of countries similar to Yemen at the site in the field of marine meteorology.
