Palestinian youth shot and critically injured earlier today has died of his wounds – Health Ministry

A 20-year-old Palestinian who was shot by Israeli soldiers earlier today in Beit Ummar town in the south of the West Bank and critically wounded has died of his wounds, said the Ministry of Health.

Shawkat Khaled Awad is the second Beit Ummar resident to be shot and killed by Israeli soldiers in 24 hours. The first was 11-year-old Mohammad Allamy who was shot and killed yesterday while he was in his father’s car.

Awad was shot in the head and stomach, said the Ministry of Health, and was critical in hospital where he was pronounced dead hours later.

Fierce clashes broke out in Beit Ummar following the funeral of Allamy.

Soldiers opened fire at the stone-throwing youths, injuring at least 12 people with live bullets, according to the Red Crescent, including Awad who later died of his wounds.

Health Minister says 116 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Palestine in 24 hours

24 hours, while no deaths were reported.

She said 28 new cases were recorded in the West Bank while eight patients have recovered.

The Gaza Strip recorded 88 new cases and 50 recoveries.

Alkaila said 13 people remain hospitalized with coronavirus, and nine are in intensive care, while one is on a ventilator.

She said 482,740 people have been vaccinated against corona in the West Bank and 104,653 in the Gaza Strip.

PCBS: Increase in the Producer Price Index /PPI/ during June

The overall Producer Price Index (PPI) for Palestine with its base year reached 98.50 in June 2021, as it increased by 0.60% compared to May 2021, according to a report by Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

Producer Price Index for locally consumed products (2019 = 100) reached 97.97 in June 2021, which indicates an increase of 0.64% compared to May 2021.

Producer Price Index for local exported products (2019 = 100) reached 103.46 in June 2021, which indicates an increase of 0.19% compared to May 2021.

The changes of PPI for June 2021 were traced back to changes in prices of the following major activities compared to the previous month:
