Mikdad, Beasley discuss cooperation between Syrian Government, WFP

Damascus, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad discussed on Wednesday with David Beasley, Executive Director of the UN World Food Program (WFP) and the accompanying delegation the cooperation between the Syrian government and the World Food Program and the future strategic plans and ways to enhance them.

Minister Mikdad hailed the standing cooperation between the Syrian Government and the World Food Program and the efforts exerted by the program to deliver humanitarian aid to those who deserve it.

He stressed the need to ensure the unimpeded delivery of this aid, the adherence to the principles of humanitarian action, and avoiding the politicization practiced by some Western countries in this context.

Minister Mikdad tackled the effects of unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people by the United States and some Western countries, which negatively reflect on the effectiveness of the work of the program and other humanitarian organizations inside Syria, in addition to the serious repercussions of these measures on all aspects of daily life, especially food and basic services provided for the Syrian citizens.

Beasley, for his part, expressed aspiration to activate cooperation between the program and the Syrian government and to enhance the effectiveness of the program in the field of building resilience.

He underlined the importance of obtaining stable and sustainable funding to seek to improve the livelihood of the Syrian citizens and not be satisfied with providing food aid in the short term.

Future work plans and the transition from emergency humanitarian assistance to recovery and medium and long-term plans were also on the table.

Syria, UNFAP discuss means to consolidate energy and environment cooperation

Damascus, Syria and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have discussed mechanisms for developing cooperation between the two sides in the fields of alternative energy and the environment.

That came during a meeting between Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Relief, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, and Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Syria Dr. Iyad Nasr.

Both sides reviewed the projects implemented by the Fund in a number of regions and projects that can be implemented and that are in conformity with national standards, which will reflect positively on the services provided to citizens.

Minister Makhlouf stressed the need to work to expand the projects and activities that are agreed upon in partnership between government institutions and agencies, and to involve the local community in selecting projects that meet its requirements according to priorities.

Dr. Nasr, for his part, expressed hope to deepen cooperation to achieve the requirements of sustainable development and build capacity at this stage for all Syrians by working in accordance with the national vision and in line with the requirements of government agencies and the local community.

Locals in Tel Rifaat stage a stand in rejection of Turkish occupation forces

Aleppo, The locals in Tel Rifaat town in Aleppo northern countryside have staged a stand in rejection of the presence of the Turkish occupation forces on the Syrian territory, condemning the brutal practices they commit against civilians in cooperation with the terrorist organizations.

The participants in the stand raised national flags and banners calling for the withdrawal of the Turkish occupation forces, and for confronting the occupation’s aggressive attempts to occupy more lands and to intimidate the safe residents.

They expressed pride in the Syrian Arab Army and its heroism in confronting any foreign aggression, affirming adherence to their homes and villages.

The locals expressed full support for Syria’s territorial integrity and their firm standing against all the partition attempts.

Several QSD gunmen injured after targeting their car, Raqqa city

Raqqa, A number of gunmen of the US occupation-backed QSD militia were injured in a new attack by the popular factions that targeted their car in Raqqa city.

Members of the popular factions targeted with an explosive device a car affiliated with QSD militia while it was passing near al-Basel roundabout in Raqqa city, causing material damage to the car, local sources told SANA reporter.

On Tuesday, the popular factions carried out two separate attacks with missiles and machine guns on two of the QSD positions at the post office in Ziban town and the in the vicinity of the park in al-Shuhail city in Deir Ezzor eastern countryside, causing the injury of a number of gunmen and material damage to the two positions.

Syria, world Food Program to enhance cooperation

Damascus, Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf, discussed with Executive Director of UN World Food Program (UNWFP), David Beasley and the accompanying delegation means to enhance and expand joint cooperation between the two sides through increasing the support presented to Syria, in a way that positively reflect on the livelihood of citizens.

During the meeting, Minister Makhlouf stressed the importance of coordination, joint work and rapid respond to the population’s requirements to achieve the goal of the program and the Higher Relief Committee and to carry out further programs, hailing the efforts exerted by the program in Syria to increase the level of support and aid.

For his part, Beasley expressed hope to expand the scope of the program’s work in Syria, ensuring the necessary support for the needy and the poor people, and establishing sustainable projects in their areas that contribute to improving their livelihoods.

Lebanese Minister of Agriculture calls for enhancing relations with Syria

Beirut, Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Abbas Hajj Hassan has called for boosting bilateral relations with Syria, particularly in the field of agriculture.

Minister Hajj Hassan, in a statement on Tuesday, underlined the importance of improving relations between Syria and Lebanon because the course of history and geography necessitates working to strengthen relations at all levels.
