Kuwaiti discus thrower Al-Zenkawi snatches gold medal in Arab Athletics Championship

Kuwaiti athlete Essa Al-Zenkawi has grabbed the gold medal of the discus-throwing contest in the Arab Athletics Championship, which concluded in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh Saturday.

Kuwaiti champion Al-Zenkawi scored 59 meters and 20 centimeters, ahead of the Qatari thrower Moaz Ibrahim, who scored 59 meters, 11 centimeters, and Egyptian Shehab Abdelaziz who scored 57 meters and one centimeter.

This is the second gold for Kuwait in the championship after the one won by runner Yaqoub Al-Youha in the 110-meter hurdles competition. Kuwaiti athletes Abdulrahman Al-Azmi and Madhawi Al-Shammari won one silver medal each in the javelin throw and the 200-meter running race competitions respectively.

16 Arab countries, including Kuwait, participated in the Arab Championship which was held in Marrakesh during the period from 20-24 June.

Qatar Wins Silver and Bronze Medals in Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023

Qatar won two silver and one bronze medals in the 300-meter roller speed skating competition at the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023.

The Special Olympics saw the participation of 7,000 male and female players from 170 countries competing in 26 Olympic sports.

Mubarak Al Ahbabi won Qatar’s silver medal in roller skating, whilst Shua Al Abdullah won the bronze medal in the same competition.

On Tuesday, Hamad Al Ahbabi claimed the silver medal in the 30-meter roller skating competition, whereas Qatari athletics player Mohammed Al Mahmoud won 5th place in the 200-meter race.

Qatar participated in the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 with five male and one female athletes who competed in roller skating, athletics, and weightlifting competitions.

The Qatari team was headed by Assistant-Secretary of the Qatar Sports Federation for Special Needs Abdul Qadir Al Mutawa, in addition to coaches Ali Hudayb and Hessa Al Darwish (skating coaches), Sasia Ahmed (athletics coach) and Muhammad Al Rizqi (weightlifting coach).

Assistant-Secretary of the Qatar Sports Federation for Special Needs Abdul Qadir Al Mutawa dedicated this victory to HE the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani for his continuous and unlimited support for sport of people with disabilities, and to the president of the Qatar Sports Federation for People with Special Needs, in addition to all those in charge of this sport in the State of Qatar.

Al Mutawa also thanked HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Germany Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani for the attention given to the Qatari delegation and his congratulations to the players for their effort and wins.

Kuwait Special Olympics participates in Berlin games

Kuwait Special Olympics participates in a medical sports program during the summer global games of the 16th edition of the Special Olympics World Games (Berlin 2023) held in the German capital.

The medical examination program is one of the prime activities of the international event, with medical teams following up on health of athletes from 170 states, totaling 7,000.

The medics measure blood pressure, examine physique of the athletes such as height and weight, in addition to ensuring they feed on healthy food and drink sufficient amounts of water during the various games.

They also examine their psychological condition particularly in heated competitions.

Qatar Olympic Committee Celebrates 2023 Olympic Day

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) celebrated the 2023 Olympic Day with a spectacular community engagement event on Friday at the Mall of Qatar. The event captivated attendees of all ages, offering a range of exciting activities and a special panel discussion featuring three Team Qatar Olympians.

YouTube TV Launches Non-Sports Multiview

YouTube TV has expanded its multiview feature beyond sports, to include news, business, and weather.

Subscribers can watch four streams simultaneously. The company also said it was working on improving multiview for NFL Sunday Ticket. There were also a number of Spanish streams that can now be streamed using the multiview feature on YouTube TV.

Kuwaiti racer wins gold at Arab Athletic Championship

Yaqoub Al-Youha, of Kuwait, won on Wednesday the gold medal of the 110-m. hurdles race of the 23rd Arab Athletic Championship in Morocco.

His achievement adds to the tally of the Kuwaiti mission one day after his compatriot Aisha Al-Khedr, a female sprinter, was able to break the national record with a 5.45-m. long jump.

The championship, being hosted by Marrakesh city, on June 20-24, gathered athletes from 16 Arab countries.

Iraqi Olympic Team Faces Its Omani Counterpart In The West Asian Semi-Finals Today

Our Olympic team will play a match against its Omani counterpart today, Sunday, in the semi-finals of the West Asian Championship Under -23.

The Iraqi Football Association stated in a statement, that “our Olympic team will face its Omani counterpart, at 6: pm at Al-Madinah International Stadium in Baghdad, as part of the semi-final competitions of West Asia for the Olympic teams under 23.”

KTV Sports obtains rights to stream Argentine’s Football League

Kuwait Television (KTV) obtained on Wednesday the rights of exclusively airing Argentine’s Football Leagues in the Middle East with 180 matches live stream on KTV Sport.

In a statement to KUNA, Acting KTV Director Hamad Al-Daihanai said that getting the rights of streaming the matches is a huge achievement to the channel as this league is important to football enthusiasts.

Al-Daihani added that a plan is set to cover the tournaments in football analysis studios and regular reports as well as marketing plans with local media agencies.

Jordan karate team secures advanced ranks globally

Jordan’s karate team has climbed up the ranks of the World Karate Federation on a global level, bringing home two gold medals and a silver medal in the third round of the World League Championship held in Japan. National karate team player Mohammad al Jafari leapt to second place globally in the under-84kg weight division and Abdul Rahman Al-Masatafa came third in the under-67kg category. In the 60kg competitions, Abdullah Hammad secured sixth place, while Hassan Masarwa came eighth in the 75kg weight category.

Kuwaiti athletes given warm welcome ahead of Special Olympics games

Kuwaiti athletes participating in the Special Olympics World Games, a global gathering of people with intellectual disabilities, were warmly received on Tuesday less than a week before the Germany-hosted event begins.

The Kuwaiti contingent, comprised of some 60 athletes and officials, were given a tour of the surroundings by the mayor of the Berlin borough of Neukolin Martin Hikel, who underlined the Kuwaiti visit as an “important step” to bolster cultural and sports cooperation.

Discussing the importance of the visit ahead of the June 17-25 games, Kuwaiti Paralympics Committee chief Dr. Rehab Boresly agreed that the initiative will be instrumental in promoting and enhancing “cultural exchange” between her country and Germany, saying she was appreciative of the hospitality of the German capital.

On the intricacies of the visit, she said the Kuwaiti delegation will get acquainted with some of the most prominent landmarks of Belrin, in addition to entertainment and education facilities that cater to people with disabilities.

Underlining the Kuwaiti government’s unflinching support for athletes with disabilities, Kuwait’s ambassador to Berlin Najib Al-Bader said his compatriots are assured of the embassy’s backing as they participate in an event of such magnitude.

Olympic Football Team’s Coach: Our Team Preparing For The Olympic Games In Paris Next Year, And Our Group In West Asia Is Strong

The coach of our Olympic football team, Radi Shnaishel, confirmed that our team is preparing for the Olympic Games in Paris next year, and our group in West Asia is strong with the presence of the Emirates and Jordan.

“This tournament is important to us, even though the team did not enter any training camp due to the start of the league,” Shnaishel said in a joint press conference with UAE coaches Denis Silva and Jordan Abdullah Abu Zam.

He continued: “Since Iraq is the host of the tournament, it is important to us, and all the teams are good and competitive.”

He added: “Hosting the tournament and its success in organization is the most important thing, as well as the land,” indicating that “the fans is a double-edged sword for our team, and the most important thing is that we give everything we have.”

For his part, Denis Silva, coach of the UAE Olympic team participating in West Asia for the under-23 Olympic teams, which will start in the capital, Baghdad and Karbala, confirmed that he has good players and talents who are physically ready to compete in the tournament, although the group includes strong teams.

Silva expressed his happiness at their presence in Iraq, pointing out that his team entered a training camp in Egypt before participating in West Asia and preparing for the Olympics.

For his part, the coach of the Jordanian national team, Abdullah Abu Zama, thanked Iraq for hosting the tournament, stressing the readiness of the Jordanian team, which includes good players, and the ambition to reach the final and win the title.

Abu Zama said: “We gathered five days before the tournament because of the Jordanian League and the difficulty of the team’s assembly. We are trying to compensate for the short period of the players with the quality of the players, as we have good playing keys, and the first match will be difficult tomorrow against the host Iraqi team.”

Qatar Hosts Volleyball Challenging Cup for First Time in Middle East

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) decided to grant the State of Qatar the honor of hosting the Volleyball Challenging Cup 2023, which will be held in July, for the first time in the Middle East.

FIVB had announced its decision after examining requests submitted by several countries, adding that the State of Qatar was the most prominent choice to host the 2023 edition of the tournament.

For his part, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari said in a statement on this occasion, that the State of Qatar’s tremendous credit in hosting major sports tournament has made QVA attain great importance to the development of volleyball to the international level, in light of the readiness of the international sports facilities on which the tournament will be held.

Al Kuwari expressed that the association looks forward to welcome the participation of teams, as well as officials of FIVB in a celebration that he described as ‘extraordinary’.

Al Kuwari concluded his speech by appreciating FIVB’s trust and confidence in the capabilities of QVA, expressing – at the same time, his gratitude to the Qatar Olympic Committee for its great support for the association, and for the success of hosting the tournament.
