Crime rate in Palestine has increased by 40% and murder by 69% since the beginning of the year – police

The crime rate in Palestine increased by 40% in the first six months of this year, while the murder cases increased by 69% compared to the same period in 2020, today said police spokesman Loai Irzeiqat.

He told WAFA that since the beginning of this year, 22 people have been killed in 18 criminal cases compared to the year 2020 when 13 people were killed in 13 criminal cases.

He pointed out that the majority of the murder cases were concentrated in Jerusalem-area villages, which claimed 10 lives, followed by three murders in Hebron in the south of the West Bank, in addition to three in Tulkarm, two in Qalqilya, one in Nablus and one in Jenin, all in the north of the West Bank. Two murder cases were also reported in Ramallah.

Irzeiqat said fights and domestic violence increased by 11.5%, as 2,760 fights and incidents of domestic violence and assaults were recorded since the beginning of the year, while 2476 fights and assaults were recorded in the same period of 2020.
