Israel sentences Palestinian activist held without charge

An Israeli military court sentenced a prominent Palestinian women’s rights activist to 15 months in prison on Sunday, after she had already served a year and three months in detention without charge. Khitam Saafin, 59, is the president of the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees (UPWC) – one of six Palestinian civil society groupslabeled ‘terrorist’ organisations by Israel in October.
