President Abbas discusses developments with Nancy Pelosi

President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed today the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and the accompanying delegation at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, and briefed her on the latest developments in Palestine.

The President affirmed to Pelosi the importance of ending the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine, halting all Israeli settlement activities, curbing settler violence, respecting the status quo in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and finally putting an end to Israel’s expulsion of Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem.

President Abbas stressed the need to stop unilateral Israeli practices that undermine the two-state solution, in order to start a real political process in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

In turn, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives affirmed her commitment to making peace on the basis of the two-state solution, and the need for all parties to cooperate jointly to move forward in achieving security, stability and peace in the region.
