Israeli court postpones ruling on forcible expulsion of Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah

The Israeli High Court postponed today a ruling on the forcible expulsion of Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, in occupied Jerusalem, without setting a new date for the next hearing.

The Israeli Court postponed making a decision on the appeal submitted by four Palestinian families, who are facing the imminent threat of forced expulsion from their houses in the neighborhood for the benefit of settlers, after the families refused a compromise proposed by the court.

The court proposed to allow the Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah to remain in their homes under a “protected residents” status, which is valid for three generations of the same family. It considered the current young members to be the first generation, which means the residents can stay in their homes for another two generations only.
