Israeli forces Monday overnight detained at least ten Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.
They confirmed that Israeli troops rounded up two Palestinians after stopping them at a checkpoint at the entrance of Beir Ballout town, west of Salfit city.
The detainees were identified as residents of Ni‘lin town, west of Ramallah.
The soldiers detained a 17-year-old teen after breaking into his family house in Silwad town, northeast of Ramallah.
In Jerusalem, Israeli police rounded up another after storming and ransacking his family house in Sur Baher neighborhood, as confirmed by the Wadi Hilweh Information Center.
In Bethlehem district, Israeli military vehicles stormed Al-Ubeidiya town, east of the city, where the soldiers detained another after surrounding and breaking into his family house.
The sources confirmed a similar military raid in Wadi Abu Freiha, east of the city, resulting in the confiscation of a private vehicle with Palestinian registration plate.
Elsewhere in the southern West Bank, Israeli soldiers detained two others after thoroughly searching their houses in Hebron city.
They also barged their way into Surif town, northwest of the city, where they searched several houses, turning them upside down.
In the northern West Bank, soldiers re-arrested a former prisoner after storming his house in Tammun town, northeast of Tubas city, as reported by Director of the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) Office, Kamal Bani-Odeh.
Bani-Odeh added that the raid triggered confrontations during which saw a number of protestors suffering from suffocation due to Israeli military tear gas.
In Jenin district, two others were detained in separate two raids in Qabatiya and Meithalun towns, south of the city.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
